The Cubs paid to much if you ask me. I mean don't get me wrong Alfonso Soriano is a great player but I don't think it is necessarily good to keep all your eggs in one basket. Nothing against Soriano but knowing the cubs hes probably going to get injured for the rest of the season or something.

isn't it a little early to say that it has been an offseason of bad choices. I mean KW is not done yet. Plus, we haven't seen our new aquisitions in play yet. Give me a break guys.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) After reading this thread, a few points .... 1. We don't know who the 'real' Neal Cotts is yet. 2. Don Cooper is a decent pitching coach, but he's no Johnny Sain. Let's get a grip on reality folks. 3. Aardsma is young and hasn't had as many opportunities to succeed as Cotts has. Let's see what happens. 4. Cotts, after last year, is as much of a question mark as Aardsma. Either one could have a 5.25 ERA or a 3.25 ERA next year. 5. Cotts has value as a lefty. However, after last year, do you want to see Cotts come in to face Travis Hafner with 2 on and 2 out? 6. You can't teach 'heat'. Aardsma has more than Cotts. 7. Vasquez is a wildcard in all this that may turn out to be a decent pick up in addition to Aardsma. There are risks involved in any trade. Williams has examined his team and has a plan. This is the first step in that plan. He has, I'm sure, received input from his scouts on both acquired pitchers. Cotts, as far as the Sox are concerned, is a known quantity after 3 full seasons in the bigs. This trade is not one that can be legitimately panned or cheered at this point. Well put

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Nov 12, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox12.article Chris De Luca says: Garcia/Buerhle two most likely to go Sox will make run at Roger Clemens Jamie Walker atop wish list as reliver Neal Cotts will be shopped Dave Roberts/Pierre interested in Sox Sox covet Michael Young I know a lot of this is old news, but some is new. BTW, we should get the Trade Winds/Rumor Mill thing back. Why would we go after Rocket. He's really old and probably won't last another season.

USA TODAY BASEBALL WEEKLY TRADE SUGGESTION
WinningUgly85 replied to winninguglyin83's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wouldn't mind having ARod but seriously I think ARod isn't worth that much talent. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) New leadoff hitter whoot! more like whoot a new CF so Rob Mackowiak doesn't play.

GOD I hope this trade does not happen.

Frank's filing for free agency. Not that we would go after him...but

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) How many body bags will be needed in Wrigleyville tonight if the Cardinals win? I have no idea. But seeing how we won it last year and if the Cards when tonight its all over for the Cubbies. They really should just sell the team off to canada if the Cards win. I mean this might hurt them so bad that fans might stop going to games but...I doubt it. They will just fill the seats to get plastered. But hey if I were a cub fan I would be an alcoholic too. The Canadian Cubbies LMFAO.

Selig pondering postseason changes

I demand for Bud Selig to resign. I am serious. -
QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) This is just amazing. You know its so funny how with todays problems with steriod scandals and cheating you would think the MLB would be a little more vibrant to enforcing the RULES OF AMERICA'S PAST TIME!!! I mean whats the logic of banding 8 players for not trying when today we have guys who are cheating left and right and nothing is being done about it?? I demand for Bud Selig to resign. I am serious.

well it sounds like we just want him to have surgery so that we can get him for less. s*** if hes not hurt just resign him for the money. Whats he asking anyway. If we lose Crede I can't think of one person who can replace his glove and bat.

Baseball's done for the season in my book. Its time to root for Da Bears.

QUOTE(chisoxt @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) If Kenny has Thome back next season. Has has got to find a right handed compliment to platoon against left handed pitching and spell for Jim every now and then. Having Frank Thomas would have been nice.
-
defensively hes a great player. He is one of the best SS in the league. I think that we can do better. Juan needs to improve his batting average and his on base percentage before I think about keeping him.

Its funny Boers and Bernstein were just criticizing Chris Rongey for not mentioning it and praising hawk. This just further proves that marriotti is even a bigger douche bag. Hawk made the right call, his job is to tell the listeners what they f*** is going on out on the field. To believe in crap such as by mentioning that Freddy was pitching a perfect game would jinx him is just the way the cub fans perceive baseball. That isn't what were about.

I would never give up Crede just for figgins. Figgins is no where as valueable as Joe.

Top of the 9th, what's your call?
WinningUgly85 replied to Frank the Tank 35's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't criticize ozzie because I believe in his managerial skills. I think many of you are forgetting that Ozzie instills confidence in his players by showing that he trusts in their abilities. So I don't mind that he left Jenks in, not because we won but because Jenks will have the confidence next time around to close out a perfect game. Just remember without this ingredient we wouldn't be World Series champs. -
QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) even tho it wasnt walk off the cubs shot was equally as good that is one of the things I missed when I was out of the country. I only heard about the Cub fans throwing trash on their beloved field.

I think we all just witnessed a flash back from last season when AJ walked off the dodgers.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) If it comes down to it, I'd rather see the Tigers in the playoffs than the Twins. We match up better against the Tigers. people were saying the same thing about the yankees and angels last year in the playoffs. We played terrible against west coast teams and we played better against the yankees. When the playoffs came around we ended up beating the Angels for the AL Division series. Just because we performed better against the Tigers during the season doesn't mean by any chance were going to succeed in the playoffs. We swept the Tigers twice but our most recent series we didn't do to good. I think its up in the air. When the time comes its going to be the team that on the top of their game that will win.
