  1. Going to add one more post here. Between Baseball America and MLB Pipeline, we now know bonuses on all players signed. So I did some math and put the final numbers near the top of the Tracker here, in case you want to reference that. The player bonuses are all updated too. Good for later use if needed. Here's a fun stat - our back end at FutureSox keeps track of how many times you revise a live article. Our Tracker had 134 revisions this year.
  2. I legit can't tell who "J-Rod" is.
  3. Madrigal debuts, five J2 signings, June draft signing deadline came and went, transactions and more to get you caught up on the week that was on the farm.
  4. Updates on Madrigal and Walker here. But not a lot to go on.
  5. Sean was out at the AZL game again last night, where he got some video of highlights from more of the LatAm youngsters. Also in the article are updates on Nick Madrigal and Steele Walker, based on Sean's conversations with Nick as well as the AZL team's manager. Read it all here.
  6. We just wanted to announce a small bit of news around FutureSox. Basically, we've come to agreement with The Loop Sports to avoid competing coverage (TLS will point to us for minors/farm content, we will help market their MLB content here and there), and to share writers. The writer sharing is already happening anyway. This just also makes sure we aren't stepping on each other's content. More details here if you'd like to read further on it. Nothing FutureSox does goes away or changes materially - we are just adding more potential writers and avoiding competition with another blog, while hopefully broadening our audiences.
  7. Sean Williams continues his work as a new Arizona correspondent for FutureSox. He was at the AZL game last night, and got to see Ian Clarkin on rehab assignment, and some nice performances from Lency Delgado and Camilo Quinteiro among others. Here's his brief report, with video. Sounds like Clarkin got a bit of a scare, but is alright.
  8. Draft Tracker updated. As it stands now, the only draft picks we don't have definitive answers on are those same two, Del Castillo and Montgomery. As for bonus pool, the Sox currently stand $369,500 over pool. So they have roughly $160k to play with still, meaning the max they could offer either is about $285k.
  9. Here's an in-person game report from the AZL last night, where Nick Madrigal made his professional debut. It includes a couple videos and photos of Nick, and some context for his performance that day.
  10. Draft Tracker updated, here is the link. 33 signed, 4 specifically report won't sign, leaving just three open questions: Martin (14), Del Castillo (36), Montgomery (39).
  11. Rob (southside hitman) returns after a bit of a hiatus to deliver a fun riff on all the top performances on the farm in the last two weeks (we skipped last week's edition). Read it all here - lots to like going on down on the farm, despite the recent injuries.
  12. The White Sox have signed five players as the new J2 period opens. James details the information he was able to find on those five, plus notes on remaining bonus pool, and the pending status of another player who may or may not still sign with the Sox. Includes some video and media links.
  13. Just coming in to say I am right with you on the bolded. I would add that the first two versions being struck down, I agreed with two, containing things like specific religious tests that were clearly unconstitutional. Much as I despise the ban and am well aware from what dark place it originates, I think the legal decisions around it have been correct.
  14. James will have a full write-up a little later today on all the signees.
  15. Lots of transactions, a few injuries and updates, a couple farm teams running hot, news links and more to get you caught up.
  16. I had a good chuckle when i saw this tweet the first time. "The Sox will sign Madrigal, at some point, for some bonous amount". The hell? He literally reported nothing.
  17. See who took home the awards for Hitter and Pitcher of the month on the White Sox farm, for June. The pitching side was a tough call.
  18. Remember that the Sox can still sign Madrigal for slot or even over slot. They can go over by 5% and get a tax/penalty, but not lose any picks. And that 14th rounder Davis Martin could go over as well.
  19. July 2nd will mark the beginning of a new signing period for international amateur prospects. The White Sox are in a penalty phase but are still lined up with some talented players they can sign under the per-player cap. James gives you a wonderfully detailed picture here - how the system works, what rules have changed, what the Sox can and cannot do, and which players they are linked to. Read it and be prepared for Monday!
  20. I just re-crunched the numbers using my own spreadsheet, and you are correct! I am not sure how my math got screwed up before (probably because I was doing it in my head like a doofus), but thank you for double-checking me. I've updated the number in our Draft Tracker to show that $244,400 as the correct current surplus.
  21. Interesting to me, to see Cordell ranked at 23 on a couple lists.
  22. A couple days ago, the Winston-Salem Dash won a game by a score of 19-2. Our Julie was there for the slaughter. So if you want to know what a slugfest led by some key prospects looked and sounded like, you should read this.
  23. Our Ken takes a look at five prospects who have a good chance to see Chicago in 2018, other than the two big names everyone is waiting on (Jimenez, Kopech). See who might be next up.
