FS: We've Suffered Enough - Call Up Eloy
NorthSideSox72 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think you may be reading too much into the title, which is admittedly a bit click-baity. The article makes quite clear that Julie thinks Eloy is ready for the majors. -
FS: We've Suffered Enough - Call Up Eloy
NorthSideSox72 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That was in fact the exact premise of the article. That Eloy IS ready, and that keeping him down purely for Super 2 is not good for the fans of the team. -
I don't think either one cares much ideologically. They just care about serving themselves and getting lots and lots of attention. Both huge narcissists. Neither is really a member of either party, they just lined up where they thought they could get what they wanted, which is kind of what you indicate here.

The single best way to avoid getting a speeding ticket is to not be the fastest car in traffic. Even being 2nd fastest is pretty safe. Same thing applies here. In a pile of corruption, he stood out the most and was the loudest and most obvious (and ultimately, the least effective at it, because he's not the sharpest crayon in the box). What I think is really funny here is I've been saying for years, Blago was basically pre-Trump Trump, just happened to be running as a Democrat. Populists who basically stumbled into (or were handed) early successes that they combined with guile and no hesitation to screw anyone, which were leveraged into the drumming up of fear and lizard-brain themes to win office. Both then exposed for being woefully unqualified for the jobs and pretty much talking themselves into disaster.

I am not a fan of the dismissive, insulting regard towards someone's beliefs. And I agree with raBBit that it's frustrating to see if being OK in some instances but not others. Most of his first post resonates with me. Where I depart from raBBit is this idea that Christians in the US are in any way oppressed, or really anything in his second post above. This idea that any significant number of people are defending extremists or MS13 in any way. That is total straw man.

See who took home the hardware, for best performances in May on the farm. The hitting category was a tough three-way race, but the pitcher was pretty clear. Would you have chosen differently?

Probably the last profile prior to the draft, learn about a catching prospect who may be a complete package.

FS: We've Suffered Enough - Call Up Eloy
NorthSideSox72 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think it's important to note that, if you read the article, you will see that Julie isn't arguing to promote a prospect just because the fans want it. She's arguing that he's ready, and the team is keeping him down (maybe) for financial reasons, and she feels he should be promoted instead of that. -
2018 MiLB White Sox news and notes

There was a line drive that hit him, but that wasn't the problem. He then twisted his knee fielding the ball. That's all I know. -
In Julie's column this week, she makes the pleading case for just bringing Eloy Jimenez to the majors Right Now. This to help mitigate the suffering of White Sox fans. What do the rest of you think? Call him straight up now? Wait until July for Super 2 protection? Go to AAA first, then maybe a September call-up? Or maybe wait all the way to late May of 2019 to get an extra year of cheap labor? Read the article, THEN vote and discuss.

Mize will likely be the #1 overall pick, but nothing is certain in the draft. So James did a deep dive look at Casey, who if he did fall to the Sox, who make for a tough decision.

BHAM hitters and Dash pitchers are hot. Skole gets promoted, and the whole Intimidators team just keeps on keeping on. All the individual performance highlights here.

FG 2018 Top White Sox Prospects
NorthSideSox72 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in FutureSox Board
I usually like FG content, but this list is bizarre and seems to be working from some vague and in some cases stale info. -
FutureSox Night at Guaranteed Rate (Wed 6/13)
NorthSideSox72 replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Still some tickets left for this. Come on out! Where else would you want to be on a mid-June evening right after the Draft, than sipping a beer, eating included food, taking in a Sox game and hanging with Sox fans and FutureSox writers? -

2018 MiLB White Sox news and notes
NorthSideSox72 replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
Curbelo is a much more substantial prospect than either of those two. Also, third base has been a weird mash of Cruz (who hasn't been doing well) and VIlla (who is an org soldier). I think you'll see Villa take Hickman's 1B and DH AB's, while Curbelo, Rivera, Blackman and Cruz work the three skill INF positions (in that order of playing time). Blackman and Cruz will probably lose out for a bit. -
Get up to date on Charlie Tilson... In-person report from April with video and quotes Prospect profile with history, recent updates, etc.

FS: Weekly Minor League News & Notes, 5/21

Still struggling with an elbow issue, no timetable for return yet. Isn't currently throwing. -
Pitching in Charlotte and Winston-Salem, hitting in Birmingham and Kannapolis rule the week. Get all the details here on the hot bats and arms on the White Sox farm.

Another in our series of draft prospect previews, this one on Alec Bohm from Wichita State. Bohm has a top bat, but there are mixed opinions about his ability to stick at third base. He could be in play for the Sox at 4.
