Weekly Top White Sox Prospects Report, 6/30
NorthSideSox72 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) My favorite recurring article on the entire internet. Owen appreciates your appreciation! That's high praise. -
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 06:40 PM) Matt Tell us if Kopech throws hard. Thanks QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 08:26 PM) According to NS' tweets, Kopech still throws fast Yup, FB was mostly 96-97, but hit 100 once and 99 twice. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 06:44 PM) Is his gf there and what's she wearing You mean my wife? She's not with me on this trip, not sure what she's wearing at the moment and how dare you! Seriously though I have no idea if she was there. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 09:15 PM) Comito have a good arm? I watched a start of his earlier this year, report and video here. Right now, the answer is no, but I'm hoping I just saw a weird outing. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 09:17 PM) Are Burger and Sheets expected to play for AZL Briefly yes, then to Kanny or W-S.

Here it is, your weekly update on the Top 15 White Sox prospects, plus one bonus name. Plenty of good, but there are also a few substantial names that are pretty heavily rutted right now. Also an update on a T15 player who's injured (not Call - his status is the same).

I am here in Birmingham for this one. Follow @FutureSox twitter (and @Matt_Cassidy) for notes as I go.

Putting the Moves On - Roster turnover in Charlotte
NorthSideSox72 posted a topic in FutureSox Board
Roster moves happen every week in the minors. But it's interesting to look at the AAA roster in Charlotte and see, in only 2.5 months of play, just how much movement there really is. Take a look at the sheer scale of player movement for the Knights at around the halfway mark in the minor league season. -
A day later than usual, but lots of transactions and some news to get caught up on, all right here - the Weekly News and Notes! That's a lot of roster moves.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 02:44 PM) Now you made me do my own spreadsheet, lol. OK you're right, they have $264,400 left in pool money, Skoug's slot is $201,700, so they have $62,700 overage room left within pool.
-
Thanks for the finds on the Louisville pair. But I'm pretty sure the Sox are a little over 100k ahead on pool.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 12:00 PM) Think we'll see any Adolfo in the backend of any mid season top 100s? I really doubt it. He needs to eliminate more swing and miss, while sustaining the increased power and overall better offensive results.

Is there enough SP talent in the system?
NorthSideSox72 replied to Dominikk85's topic in FutureSox Board
There is never enough SP talent in this or any other system. Many will fail, even high end prospects. -
Just announced that Burger and Sheets will start in AZL, briefly, before going to full season ball.
-
The typically less advanced rookie affiliate, the AZL White Sox, opened play this past weekend. Read our season preview from Y2Jimmy0 and get to know the youngsters playing in the Fire League in 2017. Who among those players are you most interested in?

2017 Minor League Catch-All thread
NorthSideSox72 replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 10:54 PM) I mean...this writer had no more info than the rest of us have from the boxscores. Not sure if I agree with his assessment that he will be in Low-A soon. Didn't Hahn say he would spend all of 2017 in the DSL? Sadly, there isn't much to get out of that site (Minor League Ball) anymore. John Sickels is a good guy, and he used to be a key voice. But he hit some major health issues and hasn't seen anyone play in person in quite a few years. He just amalgamates others' content now, which isn't necessarily a bad thing at all, but he's not adding anything new to the picture. It could be useful for people who aren't heavily aware of the system, which is all fine, but for people back here I wouldn't bother with that site for White Sox info. -
QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 12:37 PM) A Future Sox tweet indicated he was not on LSU CWS roster and therefore was/is eligible to sign. Yeah, turns out Kiel was not added to the postseason roster for whatever reason, so he can indeed sign. And did.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:45 AM) Are there reports on Mendicks arm? When I saw it in person it looked really weak, but all the scouting reports I saw say he's a defensive plus player that can stick at short. He was a nominee for an award for best defensive shortstop in the country, in college. I have only seen him play once, and he was at second that game. I have had people say he has enough arm for short.
-
Also LSU is still playing too, so the Kiel report can't really be correct. MLB office would not allow it, nor would NCAA. They may have, indirectly and under the table, agreed to parameters.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 10:39 AM) Which means Skoug should be in the fold in the next 24-48 hours too. Skoug is still in the CWS, he's playing and can't sign yet.
-
QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 09:04 PM) they can go over 4.99% of their pool with out a penalty right? The first 5% is penalty, but minimal and only financial. If they go over by more than 10%, that's pick loss, and literally no team has done that (nor will they).
-
Here's this week's edition of the Top White Spx Prospects Report. Some players were only in minimal action due to All Star breaks, but plenty of others played normal games, and rookie ball has begun. Enjoy.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 04:26 PM) Southside vs Northside Who will be the winner. Dun dun duuuun lol, I'm not invested in either outcome. I just don't see the math working to get them all in under the line. But if they can, hey, great! They are all signing in any case.
-
Normally don't have FS write posts just on transactions, but as the team made a whopping 25 of them today, including some notable names, it seemed worth covering. I know some of you folks were pushing for some of these to happen.
-
The Sox will sign everyone in the top 10 rounds. Heck, they will sign everyone in the top 33 rounds or so. I'll predict this though. Sox are under overall slot on signed guys by like 140k right now. The guys left for pool purposes are Henzman, McClure and Skoug. Skoug will be over slot, though maybe not by a ton. McClure is at least slot, might be over. And I don't think Henzman will be a lot under. That means the team likely goes over pool into penalty phase 1, like they did in 2014. I bet you'll see that happen.

Majority Whip Steve Scalise Shot at Charity Baseball Practice
NorthSideSox72 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 11:11 AM) Is their proof there was some political motivation behind this guy? If not, and if he was just pissed about life and hated the GOP/Congressional Repubs, then i'd agree this is not a terrorist act. Showing up at an event full of politicians and shooting it up, when he doesn't know any of them, to me, is pretty clearly terrorism. For the reasons I noted earlier. But even if one is on the fence, I found it odd that law enforcement said - unprompted, from what I could tell in the video - that it wasn't terrorism. -

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 02:04 PM) "Hodgkinson had a piece of paper with the names of six members of Congress written on it, Slater said, but the note lacked any further context and there was no evidence from his computer, phone or other belongings that indicated he planned to target those official" maybe he just wanted to be penpals? Yeah that's really odd. How do they not think these things are connected? Unless maybe the names weren't at the game? I also am puzzled that they said it was just a lone gunman and not terrorism. To me, this is the definition of terrorism. He sought to kill and maim in a spectacular fashion that would get huge attention and raise fears, against political entities. How is that not terrorism? -
QUOTE (yesterday333 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 10:14 AM) He played 3rd in the season opener, and made a couple really nice plays. I don't know if that changes his value or not, just thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks. Yes I saw he played some third, which was a surprise. But sometimes that stuff happens only early in the season as the team assembles. If he's playing there regularly as the weeks go on, then that gets a little more interesting.
