  1. Fulmer looked quite good in early May. I don't understand what happened. He doesn't look different mechanically now, from what I can tell on a grainy MiLB feed at least. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 03:42 AM) Anthony Villa hit 2 dingers for GF. He only hit 3 HR in 59 games at GF last year. 23-year old repeating rookie ball, first baseman. Fun to see, but I wouldn't get excited.
  2. Julie has worked for a few minor league teams. Here she gives a nihilistic and amusing recounting of a day of rain delays at a minor league park, and what that experience is like if you work there. I chuckled loudly enough at my desk at work when I read this that I got a dirty look from an office mate. It's a fun read.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 03:50 PM) Yes. For any pick after the 10th round, you get a free $100k, so in theory we could offer that overage amount, plus $100k to anyone one person in rounds 11-40 and not go into the penalty phase. This year it is all dollars above $125k per player for rounds 11-40 that applies to the pool.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) Crean and King have already been dismissed as "buddy picks". Not signing. Probably not, but can't confirm yet. Crean has actually said he's considering it, especially now that he dropped his Indiana commit.
  5. This is usually a weekly feature but there have been some gaps lately. This one covers two weeks. See who among the White Sox prospects, regardless of ranking, have put up the best numbers on the farm. Plenty of hot hands to choose from.
  6. Tracker (at link in OP) updated today. New data: --28 players have signed or report to us they will be signing --5 players are still playing in the CWS and cannot yet sign --2 players will not be signing --1 player is considering things (maybe) --The remaining 3 - Sheets (2nd), Crean (35th) and King (39th) are unknown status Also we've got bonus reports in for a handful of the top ten now in there too.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) I am not going to lie, I was hoping they drafted Troy Bacon for the same reason. There is already a Jace FRY in the system.
  8. This is a good one. Our latest podcast covers the recent draft class, and has interviews with Scouting Director Nick Hostetler (the guy who ran the Sox draft), as well as the scouts who found Jake Burger (Clay Overcash) and Gavin Sheets (Abe Fernandez). Interesting view into the scouts' minds in this process. By the way, if you happen to already be a subscriber to our Podcast via iTunes or Podomatic, it's possible you may have received a truncated version of this podcast before getting the correct one. It should show as about 50 minutes long. If you get one that is more like 27 minutes, you may need to delete that one. Sorry for that technical issue. But the one that is out there now is correct.
  9. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 01:22 PM) Kannapolis actually has 7 all stars. Morrison and Kubat in addition to the ones listed. Also they won the division based on higher winning percentage as they had a virtual tie for first. Thanks. I forgot about Morrison, but I didn't see anything about Kubat. He's not listed on the ASG roster from what I can see.
  10. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 09:32 AM) I'll take a crack. 1) Moncada 2) Kopech 3) Robert 4) Lopez 5) Giolito 6) Collins 7) Hansen 8) Dunning 9) Burger 10) Adams 11) Fulmer 12) Burdi 13) Stephens 14) Basabe 15) Sheets #15-30 are a fairly interchangeable mix of players (Call, Flores, Fisher, Hickman, Gonzalez, Adolfo, Guerrero, Booker, Skoug, Tilsen, Kubat, Morrison, Hamilton, Lambert, etc.) Speaking of which, how the hell have Kubat and Morrison both not earned a promotion to Winston-Salem? Both have completely mowed down low A hitters this season. Worth noting that it's not just Kubat and Morrison, but really any of the substantial prospects in Kanny, partly because they wanted that team to finish the first half pennant run together. Now that it's over, I bet you see some big waves of promotions around Wednesday. Guys like Morrison and Kubat, but also Dulin, Hansen, and one or two of the Kanny outfielders. Zavala also belongs a level up but is waiting on Collins.
  11. Here's the weekly edition of News and Notes from the farm. It includes transactions, a playoff berth, the release of a one-time serious prospect, draft info, links to interesting articles and more.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) I am not Northsider, but I am pretty sure their signings are fairly imminent. I think it would be a surprise to the players and the team if they didn't sign. Agreed. I know Burger was in Chicago on Friday. I don't see anyone in the team's top 10, or top 20 for that matter, that will represent signing issues. Skoug in the 7th will take some over-slot bonus, but I don't see him not signing.
  13. Confirmations for 3rd rounder and a few others added to the Tracker. 21 signing confirmations now.
  14. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 06:09 PM) Fulmer has done absolutely nothing to be regarded as a top 9 prospect in our system other than being a high draft pick. Not saying to completely give up on him, but the idea of him being a TOR (top 2) pitcher seems pretty far fetched to me. If he was a 3rd round pick would he even be top 12 in our system based on what he's done so far in his career? If people thought he had a real shot at being a top of rotation starter, then he wouldn't be ranked 8th or 9th, he'd be 1st or 2nd.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 04:30 PM) I don't know Fisher's defensive report, but power and all I'd have a hard time putting Skoug ahead of fisher given that Fisher has produced so far and that so few think Skoug can stick at C. On second thought I'd probably put Fisher a couple slots higher. But I have some concerns there. I think Skoug has a higher ceiling even as a hitter than Fisher does, and Skoug also has at least some shot to stick at catcher. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 04:30 PM) Actually my other takeaway NSS is I'm shocked you have Engel at 10. Yeah, I've been higher on him than others for a while now. But given more thought, I'd probably drop him a few slots. Not many though - he's in the 10-14 range on that list for me. I love the tools, and I think he's shown this year he can stick with a hitting approach. Far more valuable, IMO, than any of May, WGarcia, Liriano or LGarcia (despite Leury's scorching start).
  16. Let's try that again... here's my list, assuming they sign all the big kids, and without doing any real research... 1. Moncada 2. Kopech 3. Robert 4. Giolito 5. Lopez 6. Collins 7. Hansen 8. Fulmer 9. Burger 10. Engel 11. Burdi 12. Stephens 13. Basabe 14. Sheets 15. Dunning 16. Adolfo 17. Delmonico 18. Skoug 19. Adams 20. Michalczewski 21. Gonzalez 22. Fisher 23. Guerrero 24. Call 25. Zavala 26. Danish 27. Booker 28. Flores 29. Curbelo 30. Nunez Also of note: Goldberg, McClure, Cooper, Josue Guerrero, Alvarez, Peter, Clark, Perez, Diaz, Hayes, Cruz, Ty Johnson, Schnurbusch, Alfaro, B Hickman, Mendick, Remillard, Zangari
  17. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 11:29 AM) The Collins season K rate is a typo, right? It has to be, there's no way he cut it by that much that fast. 30.3%, not 20.3%, right? It's listed as 27.6%, which is correct. Not sure where you got those numbers?
  18. QUOTE (zisk @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 10:18 AM) What is this young left handed pitchers ceiling? Read the detailed scouting report here at FutureSox, with some embedded video too. He's a project.
  19. QUOTE (zisk @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 10:28 AM) Over the last 6 weeks or so Guerrero has pitched like a top prospect again. His secondary numbers are even better than almost all Sox prospects. Does anyone know if his wildness last year was injury related and if so, does he have a chance to make it to Chicago ? Guerrero's struggles last year were pretty predictable. See this post, scroll to his blurb at 22nd.
  20. Kincanon has signed, per his own Twitter announcement. 11th rounder might be over-slot.
  21. Also worth noting, Abbott will be doing baseball only. No water polo.
  22. Abbott and Mockbee have now both confirmed they are signing. Up to 17 of those reports now in the Tracker. Abbott (the 8th rounder) is a mild surprise to sign that quick.
  23. Here's your weekly update on the Top 15 prospects (plus a bonus from the 16-30 range). Mostly good, some meh, some bad.
  24. 15 players have now confirmed signing or will sign. That and a few other updates are here.
  25. First handful of reports on signing status are now up on our Tracker - just 5 or 6 so far. We should be getting a lot more in the next week.
