QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 09:02 AM) Well I think most Americans (even center lefts to medium lefts) probably realize a conservative SCOTUS is safer for the people. That's why Trump will probably win. But I think to your point, in case of a Hillary victory, most people probably want a republican congress to slow any Hillary/Bernie ideas down. For example, those crazies want complete govrnmt control of healthcare. Scary scary scary to those who fight for their dollars. I think you'll see that reflected in the final voting. This is a staggering post. Not because of policy views, but because you seem to think that people left of center prefer right-of-center representation in SCOTUS? That makes zero sense, and would make zero sense the other way around as well.

To fill the offseason quiet period void, and give us all some distraction from Cubs Mania, we compiled questions about White Sox prospects from across social media and answered some of them. Hopefully this answers some questions you all have as well. Give it a read here. Any thoughts on these Q&A?

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) The thing about Brazile "sending Clinton debate questions" (let's assume it wasn't one question, that was extremely obvious to guess for even the most passive observer) is that a debate isn't like a standardized test. It's not like you can see the question, then go look up the answer and go into the test with the answer written down. It's a debate. You have to talk about it for 2 whole ass minutes and then respond to your opponent doing the same thing. Also, their debate prep doesn't focus on questions so much as topics. If the question somehow centers around, say, Syria, they have a set of talking points they will address, and then the more ad-libbed part is just adjusting it a bit to the nature of the question around it. So in the end, getting the exact wording of a question isn't a big help. Unless you are a person who simply refuses to do real debate prep at all, I guess. Which is frightening.

A Proposal: Courtney Hawkins, Pitcher
NorthSideSox72 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 07:49 AM) Hawkins still listed at #14 on its Top Prospect List. Can't remember where SoxTalk had him in the last list. Probably about the same. FutureSox had him at 23rd, from the July list. Things only got worse after. Likely he doesn't even make the Top 30 in January, and what little stock is left is all on that big raw power and the extremely slim chance he can use it. -
Thanks guys, very helpful!

Sounds crazy, right? Thanks to IowaSoxFan on SoxTalk bringing up the idea, after I thought about it, it's really not that crazy. Here is the case for it. Yes? No? Not yet?

Guaranteed Rate Field official at Midnight
NorthSideSox72 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) How awful for you. I'm glad you were able to recover. Everyone here understands you are trying to point out that some folks may be overreacting. And most people agree with you. But holy s*** do you find new and amazing ways to destroy threads by slippery sloping every... single... f***ing... post you disagree with. -
Mark Grudzielanek named Charlotte Manager
NorthSideSox72 replied to GGajewski18's topic in FutureSox Board
Here's an interesting thing. Julio Vinas was the manager at AAA last year, and he's been talked about as a rising star in the organization. I wonder where he's going, inside or out. -
FutureSox Mail Bag - submit your questions!
NorthSideSox72 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thanks for those questions so far. We also have a bunch from social media. Last call - any other questions to ask? -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) We don't know anything about these latest emails, though. So far the whole "scandal" is that Huma Abedin logged into her email on her husband's computer. Not sure what that has to do with the post you responded to. I was talking mostly about the already-known stuff.
-
So, I don't have a problem with people being upset about these emails. Information that should have been protected went through a private email server, chosen by Clinton. She showed very poor judgment. That said... are the same people upset about it, also people who were upset by Condi Rice doing it? And all those emails that were deleted back then? Can't have it both ways.

Weekly White Sox Farm system update
NorthSideSox72 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) Rather give him a shot on the mound then try and and trade him. His mlb.com draft profile said - "The young man also can pitch, carrying a 5-2 record with a 0.96 ERA, 57 strikeouts over 36 1/3 innings and a velocity ranging from 92-96 mph when he pitched Carroll to a regional championship." With the success some position players have had transitioning into pitching, Santos, Jansen, Lehich, it would be worth a try to salvage some value. Would you mind if I used this idea for an article on FutureSox? I'd like to credit you with the idea, so can you PM me your actual name? Maybe twitter handle? Thanks! -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) The FBI director making a political move 10 days before an election seems like the most troublesome part of that statement. Yes, sort of. He was also in a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't position from a personal perspective. It's true to say that if this came out right after the election, a lot of people would assume he was hiding it for political reasons (which would be at least partially true). That said, I'd think they could prioritize reviewing those "damn emails" so that he could have come to them with something a little more concrete.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) CNBC report: FBI concluded Russia is trying to undermine election but thought it was too close to election to say so Comey's move was political, as well as some CYA. Lynch's previous declarations during the investigation were also, at least in part, political. Clinton's responses to the probe were, of course, very political. I don't think any of this is really in question.

I'll be up in Montreal on business for a few days next week. If anyone has spent time there, what restaurant recommendations do you have? Yes I've had poutine before.
-
Here is your weekly update on the goings-on around the White Sox farm. AFL is the tale of two sides.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 07:15 AM) They only test for PEDs. Minor leaguers are randomly tested for both PED's and drugs of abuse. MLB'ers are only tested for drugs of abuse based on specific cases of reasonable suspicion.
-
With not a whole lot going on White Sox-wise, seems a good time to do this. What questions do you have about White Sox prospects and/or the farm generally? Add your questions in this thread. We'll pull questions from here and other social media channels, and do a "mail bag" type piece this week. Ask away!

Detailed write-up on Rymer Liriano claim. Keep in mind that though he's 25, he has missed 2 nearly complete seasons to injuries during his career.

I legitimately want an explanation on how this is or is not different than BushCo deleting millions of emails. Or the list of other Presidents and cabinet officials using private email addresses. My personal view on this is, people in sensitive positions (anyone who might need a Secret or better clearance) in government roles should be legally prohibited from conducting ANY business on email other than government email. And criminalize it in federal statute, specifically. This way there is no ambiguity or political/partisan nonsense. It's just illegal, full stop. If some of the emails were classified, hey, go for that too on top of it.

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) Yeah kind of late in the game. Trump supporters see Kirk as a sellout and a traitor. Yup. Policy-wise, Kirk is the definition of an Illinois Republican - he's left of the party on a handful of issues including same sex marriage, and he believes in climate change. So he had already lost any of the Trumpeters or the like anyway. Now he's losing centrists because he's acting like a racist asshole towards a veteran. He's going to lose.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 07:52 AM) They should have charged these guys with treason. That would have fixed the jurisdiction problem. I'd say it's more properly sedition, or possibly terrorism. But in any case yeah, could have and should have been put at that level. I agree.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 07:16 PM) I was so proud that this was resolved *somewhat* peacefully and this is such a slap in the face. But I guess this is our system. My exact reaction.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 08:59 PM) She seems like the third dog in that race though. More likely she wins GA than Utah. I was more referring to the fact that McMullin could win, thus hurting Trump's already tough road. Clinton has no need for Utah really.
