  1. Big run standing 90 feet away. Need to add another
  2. If they throw in some cash and take Linebrink... absolutely worth a gamble. Aside from one down year in 2005 and the last couple with injuriies, he's be extremely productive.
  3. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 08:14 AM) bowden: Confirmed....3 Teams are still "in" on Adam Dunn: Detroit, Chicago WS and Tampa Bay....50/50 he's moved....Confirmed Sue seems like Washington is doing a ton of "negotiating" through the press (such as including Detroit in the latest rumor). I think he's a member of the Whitesox later today. Washington will budge.
  4. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 11:39 AM) Jose Bautista is not a good hitter he has a career line of .238/.333/.422/.756 and from MLB trade rumors "Buster Olney reported today that the Blue Jays are demanding elite young players for Bautista, who leads the major leagues with 26 home runs. The right fielder-third baseman has just less than $1MM remaining on his contract this year, though he'll get a substantial raise through arbitration in 2011, his last season before hitting free agency." Bautista would be a terrible fit and his first half power is one of the biggest flukes in baseball this season. No thanks. It might be a fluke, but he also had a huge end to last year as well as his big first half. Maybe he just figured it out? EDIT: He put up a .944 OPS last September, including 10 HR's. So whatever you want to call his power surge, it dates back to last year.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 06:53 AM) Very interesting news. I assume he'd be relegated to DH, but since it is his left labrum, would it be possible for him to still actually play in the field? Also, where did you hear the news? I've had a torn labrum, also in my left shoulder like Morel. Depends on the severity, but considering he's playing through it, this is probably relatively minor. Shouldn't affect him playing next year. For me, hitting was compeltely unaffected - but I could not throw without pain (I lost a lot of arm strength as well) from my normal throwing angle. I just adjusted my motion and played through the pain. Eventually I took 8 months off and it's fully healed now. I was told surgery would have decreased recovery time but since it didn't bother me all that much and I could still play hockey I declined surgery.
  6. Not sure if this was mentioned previously... but prior to last night, the Braves had won 42 consecutive games when scoring 5 or more runs.
  7. His command is gone right now. Primarily his breaking ball, which allowed a few guys to sit fastball - and when he got too much of the plate they hit him hard. His command will improve and then he'll be the Peavy we all know and love. EDIT: WOW, judging from my avatar it's been a long time between posts for me. I assume I threw Strahan up there during the Superbowl run in 2007. Guess it's time for a change...
  8. Ideally, if Getz continues to develop, he'd be a nice candidate for the #2 spot. Nice to have a lefty bat in the #2 spot & Getz handles the bat well and was starting to take more pitches (based on observation only, I could be mistaken). He's still got a ways to go at the plate but that's sort of a best case scenario. Nix needs to stay inside the ball more but he does have nice power potential.
  9. He has plenty of power - more than enough to hit 30 home runs. He just isn't selective enough with his pitches. If he ever became more selective I think he would be a 30/30 type and then some.
  10. Speculation up here in Canada is that BJ ownership needs to reduce payroll. This would be an easy way - especially since Rios has really become public enemy #1 to a degree with his poor performance and public issues. I'd expect the Jays to move him to us - and if it's by trade I'd be shocked if Rios wasn't overjoyed to leave.
  11. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 12:40 PM) anyone know the PC for JG? 91 according to Gameday. Probably his last inning coming up.
  12. I read somewhere in spring training that the Sox were having him develop a 2 seamer. Is he still working on this and does anyone know how he's making out with it?
  13. I know it's a broken record with Sox fans... but Crawford is the guy we should target. He's exactly what we need. Wells is great but will be really expensive while Crawford is signed long term to a reasonable contract.
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) If it costs us anything worth a damn, no, not worth it. I concur, although if we have idweas of moving BA as a part of a bigger deal and need a stop gap guyI certainly wouldn't mind AR - as long as the cost is minimal.
  15. C'mon Paulie. Let Joe be the tying run.
  16. good start. Wouldn't mind Thome getting a walk as well. or not.
  17. Not that it will matter now, but at least we have our best hitters coming up this inning.
  18. Our bullpen ERA must be more than 20 for this series.
  19. 1 strike in 8 pitches. Was he drinking before the game?
  20. I see Sean is trying to get himself cut.
  21. I'm sorry to admit this - but this is so bad it's funny. Hey, let's put a 6th guy in there!
