let's talk about this horrid radio tandem
BabyJesus69 replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) no chemistry, stepping all over each other's lines, some dead air followed by awkward transitions, lots of stuttering and staggering, missed pitches, delayed calls on the action while singleton tries to sew two or three words together you just described why they should be given time to work it out before you jump all over them. do you think that 2 guys that have never been in the positions they're in, are going to step in and work together like 2 guys that have done it for 15 years? -

tommy brands will be named head coach at iowa tomorrow morning. if the 4 guys come with him that are rumored to, iowa's going to start hoisting some more national championship banners really soon. -

had the iowa job not opened up today, brands would be on his way to ohio state. therefore, the iowa job had to open up today, and it did. he's wanted the job for a long time, he's proven that he can recruit, and he's proven that he's ready to take the job. trust me, he's going to be coaching in iowa city for a long, long time. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 02:31 AM) Iowa still needs to pass ISU. Then again, ISU doesn't focus as much in state as of late. i really don't mean to be an ass, but how many times has iowa state beaten iowa in the last 30 years head to head? -

QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) They had to. College wrestling head coaching positions are in shambles right now. Ohio State fired Hellickson last week. Eastern Michigan just hired themselves a new coach. Now Iowa and Iowa State. Sanderson was going to be the coach in time, so it's only sooner. There is talk of Tom Brands all over, I guess it's his Iowa job if he wants it. What does he do. He has Metcalf (super-duper blue chip recruit) coming out of redshirt next year at Virgina Tech, we're he is building a solid team and they're commited to the program building facilities. I want to see Brands stay at VT. Now I could see Terry Brands leave University Tennessee-Chattanooga for Iowa. He has a decent squad over there with both Keefes returning and Koz coming. So who really knows. Tom Ryan of Hofstra may end up at Ohio State. When I wrestled at State, our coach had a lot of heat. I remember one of the meetings where he got his vote of confidence from Mason (our AD). The stuff really does erk teams. the next head coach at iowa will be one of the brands brothers, there's no doubt about it. tommy's rift was with zalesky, not bowlsby or gable. imo the most likely scenerio is that gable comes back for a couple years with tommy as an assistant to put iowa back in its rightful place, and then he takes over. the only reason that anybody from the state of iowa is at VT right now is due to brands; there's no doubt that any of those kids would rather be hawks than hokies. they'll be in iowa city in the fall. -

lol, iowa fires zalesky....isu gets petrified of getting 'Gabled' again....douglas 'steps down' a few hours later....sanderson is new isu coach -
the story is that when the site was transferred from frank to whoever it went to, the guy's company hosted it. things needed to be a little less profane, and certain posters made it a point to go against some of the new policies. quite honestly, that site sucked for the last couple years. there was a group of about 4 or 5 posters that went out of their way to be assholes to pretty much everybody that was new to the site. arguments seldomly stayed on topic, as most of them turned into personal attacks from one poster to another.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 02:38 AM) And why, exactly, are we Clowns? the inferiority complex is a good place to start... there is no 'superiority complex' in iowa city. it's obvious that isu fans haven't realized yet that hawk fans don't care about them. we've got bigger fish to fry, whereas iowa state's football season peaks in september when it plays iowa. isu's bball season peaks with the iowa game also. both were in plain display this year.

it's not immature to refer to people as what they are did i start a new thread last week when wayne morgan/isu's problems came out? has a head coach at the university of iowa ever taken time during his introduction to discuss iowa state? the inferiority complex doesn't puzzle me, nor does it irritate me; it just makes me laugh.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) A very similar thing happened at Wisconsin with a store called the Shoebox, not even close. wisconsin's troubles covered over 20x as many athletes and traversed across the athletic department. iowa's problems cover 5 football players. the insecurity and immaturity of clown fans, along with the new bball coach, has grown old. those that live in glass houses....

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) Barnaby, for the most part, has done his job this year. He was brought in to be a royal pain in the ass, and, that's what he's been. Unfortunately, the Hawks brought LaPointe in to score a little bit, and provide that "veteran presence" -- I'm not seeing a whole lot of results on either end. barnaby's played well this year, but i find it hard to fault lapointe for not living up to unrealistic expectations put on him by the hawks. he's played as well as i would have expected him to play, given the way the game has changed. he's provided leadership on a team full of young players. at least we've got a new marketing slogan for next year: the chicago blackhawks- not kicking anybodys as but their own -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) I guess you can enjoy when Iowa blows the tourney or goes deep only to lose Alford. you use the term 'lose' liberally. 'be relieved of' would be a bit more realistic. -
Illinois rated second best student section in NCAA

i love when the camera pans out at assembly hall, and that group of fans that looked really deep turns out to be 3 rows of students on the floor, with only the first row doing anything. -
if indiana takes alford, i'll help him move down there

she looks great on tv, but some of those pictures of her face make her look like a used up crack addict

it turns out that the blackhawks have just been throwing games for the last 10 years. they don't really suck as bad as we think they do.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) :rolly http://www.cushingdaily.com/opinion/cnhins...eyword=topstory They need to blame themselves just as much as the officials, if they would've played hard all 4 quarters instead of the 4th, they wouldn't have been in that position to begin with. I think the Nebraska/Michigan game was more poorly officiated. michigan/nebraska and iowa/florida were the two most poorly officiated games that i've ever seen. you're right though, iowa should never have put itself in the position to let the officials decide the game.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) The 1st period was BRUTAL. f*** this Barata bulls***, send Arnason, Calder, Bell, whoever packing and get some defensive help. They played so lazy in the 1st. defensive help isn't the issue

this year's usc team is a bit overrated as far as its all-time placement, but usc is still the best team in college football. the only fair way to compare teams across generations is by how much they dominated their opponents at the time. this year, while usc has played well, they have had a hard time with a few opponents. my knowledge of college football only goes back around 15 years, but i'm willing to bet that there have been teams that have skated through the season by dominating ALL of their opponents, rather than just most of them. this usc offense is dominating, but there have been a lot of dominating offenses in the history of college football.
-
i was at the game, and it was fairly obvious with about 15 minutes left as to what was going to happen. the hawks completely shut down the offense in the third period and were content with dumping it in. you can't do that in the nhl anymore. yawney is a f***ing joke.
