  1. There is a minimum amount, I think 80% last I knew, of slot value that has to be offered before a team can recoup a draft pick next year, unless there is an injury that can be proven the team didn't know about which changes things.
  2. And the more bidders we have, especially from the AL East, the better it is for the White Sox.
  3. If they are willing to start with Roman Anthony or Marcelo Meyer, they could make a case.
  4. The history of high draft picks being used on 1B's is incredibly awful. Couple that with some bad chase and swing and miss issues, and I don't think the Sox are the team for him.
  5. For the record, the Sox have a pool of $14,593,300, meaning even if they have no slot savings to spend, they have $729,665 in just their 5% overage to spend. Be interesting to see how the top picks come in terms of savings/overage. The Hagen slot is recommended at $7.7 million. If you look at say the #8 slot, it is $6.5m. If they get him at the #8 slot, that gives the Sox basically $2 million to play with, without an considerations for early college seniors in the pre10th rounds.
  6. The top high school kids are looking at a ton of NIL money. Especially once you get to day 2, a lot of them will make more in NIL then they will in their signing bonus. Unless they really want to go pro, they don't have to for money anymore
  7. Hagen Smith interview https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/video/hagen-smith-on-being-drafted-in-the-1st-round?t=mlb-draft
  8. Outside of a super crazy happening, everyone is signing.
  9. Sheets is who we thought he was. He had a nice stretch, but came right back to his career norms. He might actually have to start worrying about being non-tendered next year, though it's not like the Sox have someone to replace him with.
  10. With NLI, high school kids have more leverage than ever.
  11. I think it won't be the Sox rushing him, he has to the stuff to move himself quickly. Odds are high he barely even needs to see the A levels.
  12. The nature of the MLB draft is weird that the combination of cost savings and spending overages means you don't pick your favorite players in the right order. I will be interested to see how many college seniors we pick on Day 2, which sets up Day 3.
  13. I will throw out that I mentioned Sirota and Dakota Jordan as college players that fit Sox needs.
  14. He's now on to his second major injury (he's on the 60 day IL with this lat injury) in a short period of time. You can't deny the ceiling, but he is a lot scary.
  15. Would be really interested to see what we spent so far to know if we in HS mode or safer college mode at this point in the draft.

  17. That is a Sale style condor wing and arm drag.
  18. Which is better than selecting a below average 1B who struggles to OPS .700.
  19. Sox pick 4th starting tomorrow. Maybe Dakota Jordan or Mike Sirota?
