Fan Duel has the Sale K # at 8.5. Easiest over ever. Probably more like 28.5 -
I wanted to laugh at this, and then I thought of Gavin Sheets, Andrew Vaughn, and Eloy Jimenez being ran into RF and cried a little.

lol, won't answer, you are really getting desperate here. I have said all along, that if you plans for being respectable were built on the backs of players who literally average missing half of every season, you can't then use them as an excuse when they are indeed missing for half of a season. But yes, if all three players had done something they had literally never done before in their careers and play healthy and productive full seasons, this team would have been better. And again, while you concentrate on something that had always happened to the bad side, you are full ignoring the three huge breakout seasons happening to the upside which were totally unpredictable, and weren't being planned on. So if Lee and Fedde had the seasons they have always had, and Crochet had the injury and effectiveness he had always had, would they still have been on a 90-100 loss pace? Oh right. This team is only here because of the aforementioned bad things that happened to it.
-
So again you are back to trying to hold both positions that we weren't supposed to be this bad, but we were only this bad because of the injuries, even though the entire world knew injuries were a long part of all three of their histories, as well as bad performances by guys who are either regressing or not progressing, all while ignoring we also got crazy good production from guys that was 100% not expected such as Crochet, Feede, and Lee that should have more than balanced some of this out and thus returned us to just "bad", and things could have actually been way worse than they actually are? Even if the idea was that this was just going to be "bad" there still isn't the incentive to churn the roster to the extent it was. Bad teams are thinking of development and evaluation of kids too, and we haven't done that, except where we didn't have a choice.

"We are scared to death of the first base profile" "Rightfully so" ?
-
Exactly. I honestly think their actions tell me they knew they weren't going to be good, but maybe they could get to mediocre with some luck. They never imagined historically bad, which is why all of the freaking out through crazy roster moves and putting in people who had no business on a MLB roster, and dumping marginal prospects to do it. They were absolutely playing for today a good portion of the season.

Not as a #1 piece, but as of today the Sox have no real 40 homer potential kind of player in their system. Them getting a banger from the corner wouldn't be a bad thing. Both Vaughn and Sheets are probably not that long for the organization anyway. Heck Vaughn could be in DFA territory with his 2nd year of arb coming up if he has a bad 2nd half too.
-
I kind of wondered if they might be in a Moncada kind of situation where his debut went so badly that it took just enough shine off of him where Baltimore might reconsider him.

And you get yanked up and down a few times

Yeah there is DE+ for David Ecksteins above replacement, and then xDE for expected David Ecksteins.
-
I do feel like someone, at some point, said that we have more than are listed publicly in some of these departments.
-
"We are 40 games under .500 before the 4th of July what do we do?" "Quick someone call David Eckstein"
-
They are well on their way.

I mean Pedro make Bevington look appealing all around.
-
Terry Bevington #5.

I was going to say Gavin Sheets, but I didn't realize how much Elko had out performed Sheets at each level so far.
