  1. I think we are seeing the kinds of reasons spending some time working your way through a minor league system has some value. There are so many little things that major leaguers do bigger, faster, and better than any minor leaguer does. If you aren't getting their incrementally, it is a big leap in those aspects. I think we saw some of that with Ramos, and we are seeing it again with Ellis.
  2. Is there another source for that? The article posted yesterday seemed more speculative, but also the Sox are going to Sox, so it is always possible they do the dumbest possible thing.
  3. Free agency via Curt Flood was 1976. I was wrong on draft as it was 1965. The point was that the game has changed a lot in 52 years, and players don't stay put like they used to because of those things. Steve Carlton staying on a bad team for 8 years as a top flight pitcher doesn't happen today.
  4. Too bad he can't catch like his old man did.
  5. You know what didn't exist in 1972? Free agency. You know what else didn't exist? The draft.
  6. I do hope someone figures out how to keep him on the field because the dude is special.
  7. In 2024, that IS special. This win brings us back above Martin Maldanado's OPS in terms of winning percentage.
  8. Any deal has to start with a top 10, top 50, and top 100 and go from there. Sneaking in a young raw international player at the end would be sweet as well.
  9. #1 the pen is gassed. #2 who out of the pen has shown they should be there instead?
  10. Hopefully the kid enjoys the paychecks because he's still got some things to learn.
  11. How do you know Brad Keller is done? Even the White Sox are hitting him.
  12. Is there a slot for him in Winston?
  13. He wanted to stay in Miami the whole time, and they supposedly told him they wouldn't trade him, so he didn't need a NTC, and then traded him anyway after their selloff.
  14. The story has always been the Sox didn't want to pay him again, and the Marlins screwed him by sending him to Toronto
