Would be very interesting know what kinds of discussions the Sox have been able to have with high school kids they could push down the list. Not to mention with NIL now a thing at the college level, there is less incentive than ever to take the money and run to the pro's.
As well they should. This isn't like he has had a bad couple of outings. Dude has been failing for years now. It blows me away that a guy on the brink of free agency would be this uncoachable when he has had so little sustained success with his insane level of potential.
Those numbers also completely ignore that he had one terrible start which destroyed his SSS.
Remove that game and his line is 6 ER in 29.1 IP for a 1.84 ERA with 10 BB and 19 K over that span. His FIP would also look very different. If you aren't seeing something different in him, you aren't looking.
It does appear a couple of teams could use him, but I can't see it being for much. Dude has a pretty big price jump on the calendar next year if they tender him.
FWIW, FIP hated Mark Buehrle as well, and wasn't a big fan of Hendriks. Pretty sure this stat won't like anyone who gives up a ton of soft contact instead of K's.
Sheets "familiarity" with the OF is much like my "familiarity' being a billionaire. I understand it in concept, and maybe even pretend to be one at times, but don't have the actual qualifications or ability to do so.
