He opened with 11k in his first 17 PAs, since then he has 9 in 42 PAs, along with 7 walks.

Not to mention "the best guy" is 100% subjective and very rarely that clear.

It's not though. We have been lurching from player to player all season long trying to catch lightning in a bottle without any real consideration of long term gains and problems created by this instability.

From a pressure standpoint, it might actually be a lot better. There is nothing like the attention that a player draws if they are on a New York City professional team. They still have a large sports media following, and they actively are looking for things to report that aren't exactly what the franchises are feeding them. The fans are loud and engaged as well, and will eat a player for lunch if they give them a reason to do so. There isn't much else like it in American sports. The Sox are the exact opposite of that right now. Even our failures are pretty quietly coddled and protected by our sports media. A guy like Lopez would have the chance to fly under the radar and quietly be able to reset himself at low points. I know the losing would suck, but he also wouldn't feel like a target here.

I don't remember the same level of hype for Pallette, but I do believe there was a good first round grade on him pre-TJS.

When it comes to oddball situations, teams are typically asked by their local media and generally answered if someone is going to be on a non-standard situation for innings in a season.

I have heard worse ideas. Some guys aren't made for the NY spotlight. I know it isn't conventional, but I would be interested in the for free, or at least a minimal low level trade piece similar to the Julks deal.

They dumped him to even out salary in that deal. Somehow between when they scouted the guy in Asia, and when he got here, he went from deceptive in the mid 90s to low 90s and wasn't fooling anyone.

I know Grant Taylor had high first round potential if he had been healthy and pitched like was hoped.
