  1. It's exactly because we are 1-7 with no hope that we shouldn't be giving away fringe 22 year olds for 35 year old OFs. Players with even a chance at okness are more important than fillers.
  2. Spoiler alert, he's 5'6"
  3. What is the difference between #25 and #42?
  4. This is what gets me. People spent the entire winter talking about how we didn't sign any good players, the players we did sign sucked, and everyone in management was trash, yet are still freaking out with each bad play and game. I don't even want to see respectable bad. I want to see national embarrassment bad. I want this drug through the mud and questioned in gory detail and mocked league wide. Give me record breaking bad. #TeamBurnThisBitchtotheGround
  5. "I don't know if he is any good" and "overhyped" isn't the same as wait and see.
  6. It's our punishment for not showing up.
  7. Even Keith Law likes the guy.
  8. Serious question: say Terry Francona was managing this team as it stands today, would anything really look different?
  9. If only someone had already made a thread about firing either Getz and/or Griffol this wouldn't have happened.
  10. People are really watching KC and Sox instead of the final four?
  11. I am so old I remember when he was a bust.
  12. The women's event being able to stand on it's own makes it more likely to remain separate because they can profit from both
  13. Well then he has a lot in common with Leone.
  14. You need guys like Leone to have a 130 loss team and not vice versa.
  15. 4-5 good years before age 30 is the definition of sustained success in 2024. Having a 20% above average ERA for your non-"prolonged" career, including 7 of 10 + 100 era+ seasons is getting all of the controlling years of a $15m/yr SP (2nd or 3rd rotation slot) for minimum and arbitration prices. For the Sox that means getting all of their good and cheap years before they become a free agent or get traded. He will most likely be long gone before your theoretical collapse. While you always hope for Hall of famers, if you get that out of Thorpe, that's a win for the Sox.
  16. I don't actually believe that is true.
  17. With a list valuation of $2.05b, that's probably an accurate open market sales price. Cash option for the powerball after taxes is probably something like $400 million.
  18. You could win the entire powerball and take the cash option, and still not have enough money for even a majority share of the White Sox. Not even close.
  19. 11 year career. 119 career ERA+, 3.53 era. 2 full seasons with an era over 4, and 3 with an ERA+ under 100. We should be so lucky.
  20. It is relevant because we lost Rodriguez to get Clevinger.
