  1. Yeah but he HAS a bullpen to use at least...
  2. Santana is apparently hurt, and is pulled out of the game. Rick Reed into the game in the 5th with the Twinkees still leading 1-0.
  3. This is what used to be Heatley's Ferrari looks like
  4. They would create their own chanel ala SportsVision Ya talking kind of like the Yankees channel? Exactly
  5. Yankees trail the Twins early 1-0, on a Shannon Stewart double and Rivas sac fly.

    curious story

I notice that the name of Carl Rove is popping up in connection with this stuff already...
  8. Not criticizing your list, because this is just opinion, but how can you not have Pedro on there. If you look at how dominant he has been compared to the rest of the league its almost ridiculous. He has been a much better pitcher than both Schilling and Glavine and he has been better than Johnson or Maddux. not to mention ... how could there be a tossup between arod and larkin????? Maybe he is taking 2004 salaries into account?
  9. http://www.msnbc.com/news/973815.asp?0dm=C12LB Consumer confidence crashes because, get this, the labor market hasn't recovered... Once again, d'uh?
  10. Thanks for the kind words one and all. And as I said at the beginning, if anyone has suggestions to make the PTC contest better, without making it exceedingly complicated, by all means post the idea, or PM me. Also for anyone who wants to hold contests on here during the off season, such as NCAA or NFL stuff, or anything else feel free to have at it.

  13. Packers 30 Bears 10. That reminds me to walk up to the casino and grab the packers -4 Put me down for some of that action Damn I couldn't live that close to the sportsbooks... Its up to -4 1/2 now lmao, could have been 14 1/2 and it wouldn't have mattered Now go Braves
  14. Hargrove was overrated. Even with all of the talent that the Indians had he only made one real good run. Plus when I saw him he seemed to make some bad strategy decesions...
  15. I feel the same way. Not me :fthecubs :fyou Cub fans
  16. Luke Appling? Bench, Gehrig, Joe Morgan, Honus Wagner, Mike Schmidt, Williams, Mays, Ruth. Walter Johnson, Lefty Grove, Cy Young, Warren Spahn, Bob Gibson. Eckersly and Wilhelm in the Pen. That was my White Sox bias coming out. I'm cool with that. For what it's worth, Bill James lists Eddie Collins as the second best 2nd baseman of all time, behind Morgan. After I posted my list, I remembered somebody named Barry Bonds, who really has to be on the list. I'd have to freeze out Ted. Freeze out Ted Couldn't let that one go without comment...
  17. It won't be too long before we know what Franks move is. He has until 5 days after the world series ends to make up his mind.
  18. The players raises are a part of the payroll. If that number is taken up by raises that doesn't bother me, as long as our payroll total increases to reflect the added burden passed onto the fans. And aren't the concessions based on contracts awarded to the concessionaires? So in other words if they have increased costs, they have to deal with it, just as if they have increased profits they get to keep those also? Parking has already become a fixed cost as you said in another thread that is now a fixed long term cost, because of a contract for that also. I wouldn't be surprised if security is also contracted out.
  19. I think Garland is never going to better than he is now he is not a #2 starter with his era and control problems , I would like to see him dealt in the offseason. Honestly, where do people come up with this crap? A 23 year old with loads of potential, who has improved, is never going to get better? Thats as weird of a statement as ive read in a long while............ Go to the source of the post, there you will have answers to the questions you ask...
  20. If I remember right didn't we also give Tony LaRussa his first managerial job?
  21. I am guessing that LaTroy wants to go somewhere and close again. Or if he doesn't he is going to the Yankees who need pen help badly.
  22. I think he meant last year. Increased prices and increased sales should equal increased payroll. Yeah that is exactly what I was talking about. We had a 20% increase in attendance, on top of the 20% increase in ticket prices, yet we only get a "marginal" increase in payroll. That is BS.
  23. Exactly why I don't mind openning on the road. Give Chitown sometime to warm up!
