They end up losing Kariya and getting Fed for about the same money.

He could bunt, he could steal, and he could play defense, how many guys on this team can say that?

And did anyone see the diving web gem Torii made to seal the game? Geesh.

The thing is if we offer them arbit they can't have their pay cut by more than 20% right? So Roberto is instantly way to expensive. I don't know what Everett is making so I can't speak to that, but it is probably too much. Colon is about the only one I can see us offering arbit to.

On Thursday the 18th, There were 4 players with 8 or more points, led by Joe Crede with 10 points. Lee, Everett, and Olivo all had 8 points. Winners were Whitesox247 and Juggernaut. On Friday The winner was Paul Konerko with 8 points, followed by Lee and Roberto Alomar with 6 points. Pickers were >WinningUgly, Mathew, and me!

So essentially the very act of seeking justice makes you a b****? What do you plan on doing if you are ever the victim of a crime?

If Dusty Baker can be an open racist and manage while no one cares about it, why can't Rush Limbaugh commentate?

I agree that it is a very good book But it did not make me a convert to the Billy Beane style of thinking. Much of it was very interesting, but I also thought some of his points were sensationalized (that happens in books? lol) trying to put Beane on a pedestal. Parts of the book also show what a bastard he is as well. i alway thought of him as being one of the better gm around and i thought highly of him and what he accomplished. since the book came out and how as you pointed out sensationalized him and to me he is acting as we should put him on a pedestal on how gm should be judge. that is how i see this, whether on not it is true, i hope now that he falls on his face. We'll see how good of a GM he is when it comes down to trying to keep Zito, Mulder and Hudson long term. I also believe Foulke is a free agent after this year, it'll be interesting to see what kind of offer they give him. It's pretty much assumed Tejada won't be back next year, correct? They have already said that they can't afford Tejada next year.

JR won't let anyone deal Frank, so just forget about it.

Ozzie would be a great add as a coach. We need someone who understands the game and the fundimentals of it.

D'uh? We are going to lose 6 prospects, of course we slide back a little. I was disappointed all the mentioned was Borch though, when guys like Cotts, Reed, and Wing have been much bigger surprises and have rocketed up the charts 6 prospects, two of which weren't very much prospects (Salvo and Almonte) and it may only be two of which go to Texas. So I'm thinking the Sox lose something more like 4 prospets. Plus they get one back in Dunn, which is a net loss of 3. Odds are if things work out, they get at least 2 draft picks from the two guys that are acquired, which is another 2 prospects in return (IT could be 4 picks, but thats a ?) which is a net loss of one prospect and in the draft picks, if done right you should be able to get some top talent. using a lot of math tonite, uh plus i think we will get a supplemental 1 rounder for everett, have you forgotten colon in the equation? I was only talking about the two trades the Sox made. If you want me to work out the whole scenario, here's what I got. -The Sox will get two compensation picks for Colon -Sox will get 2 for Alomar (maybe one, but I think 2) -Sox will get 2 for Everett (maybe one, but I think 2) Remember to get compensation we must offer abritatoin and they can only take 20% of a paycut so they'll need solid offers to go elsewhere. -Sox may get compensation for Valentin -May get compensation for Carlos (if he walks) Thats what I'm thinking of right now. I'm guessing the Sox should have 3 or 4 compensation picks at the least. IF we offer them arbitration. Do you think we will offer them ALL arbit if we don't make hay in the playoffs?

Am I the only one who thinks that is nuts? Look at the players he traded away in Cleveland. (Giles, Sexson and co) He is also the guy who gave Chan Ho Park a 5 year $75mil deal. Hart is terrible.

Exactly right, for anyone who doubted Buehrle (Roman) what do you think of him now? Is he still worthless? CWSOX45 Maybe Roman needs to revive his weekly "Pick to Rip" because whenever Roman bad mouths a Sox player, they undoubtably go on a tear right after. Time for Roman to put his money where his mouth is and start ripping his beloved Frank. We need Frank to find his stick. He lost it after 07/02 . Frank Thomas in the month of July .200 (10-50) 3HR 9RBI 6BB 11K .741 OPS .281 OBP ALL of his averages are the worst of any month this year. His key RISP average has fallen back from the 260's he got it into in June to .231 as of now. If you throw out the first 4 games of July Frank is only 5-34 with No HR's 1RBI and 1 2B, with only 3 walks and 8K's over the last two weeks. For some reason it looks like he has become less patient during July, even while Maggs hitting behind Frank is in his hottest spell of the year.
