  1. We would recieve the team who signed him's pick, plus a compensatory pick between the 1st and 2nd round. (Alomar is considered a type A player) So if worst case scenario happened and Colon and Alomar left after this year we would have 5 draft picks before the start of the 2nd round.
  2. Well if another deal comes along for a future HOFer where we only give up a relief prospect, a never will be, and a never ever will be, and get his salary paid I would hope we would make the deal. Bmr you know something we don't about CFers out on the market?
  3. DAMN IT THAT $165 MILLION IS MINE, YOU KEEP YOUR DAMNED HANDS OFF OF IT!
  4. Glove needs to work more often to be effective. Of course he sucks when you pitch 3 times in two months.
  5. He doesn't have the right attitude to be a Graff type player. He is going to sulk and whine the whole time.
  6. Robby Alomar makes having Harris and/Rowand in the line up a lot more tolerable. It also puts Harris back on the bench to be the speedster, PH, PR, and late inning replacement.
  7. GET OVER IT! Man, Almonte is a Foulke clone who is a lot worse than Foulke. Matt Ginter is a lot better than Almonte. Ring is a 'tweener, and hasn't been hitting over 90 MPH, from what I've heard. The Sox still have Munoz, Sanders, Wunsch and Marte in the pen (future and present). Also, if Alomar leaves next year, we'd be getting Type A Compensation for him, which means we'd get a first round draft-pick AND a first-round supplemental for Alomar. Would you take those two draft picks from two future relief pitchers? I sure as hell would. Great trade. Espesially since the Mets pick could be a top 10 pick.
  8. Don't go turning into the windsock on us now Ugly
  9. Really good point. Even if he ONLY hits his current .266 he is a 10 point improvement on Jimenez and a 70 pt improvement on Harris. And that is before you factor in that his D blows away anyone we have. Plus he has been in the playoffs and pennant races how many time?
  10. OK this is the official Yeah or Nay thread. Put your post here saying if you support or hate the deal of Alomar for Ring, Almonte, and Salvo I am for it!
  11. Ginter and Danny Wright. I really think Danny could be a great closer.
  12. Check out this site. you'll find something http://www.snopes.com
  13. He also began his decline the day he went to the Mets and the NL. I am willing to take a chance that this could be a rebirth for Alomar.
  14. And I'd like to add to that I think that Ginter and Wright could very well be better out of the pen than Ring.
  15. The Trib is reporting another player in the deal. Anyone ever heard of Salvo? http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines
  16. Its not going to be a pitcher. It would leave us with only 10 pitchers.
  17. Guess I should get a refund on my Jimenez all star jersey
  18. The other thing that just hit me is how much stronger our bench just got as Harris becomes now our superutility man and first man off of the bench. We also now have speed coming off of the bench to pinch run. So what should be done to our roster? Release Rios? Send down Jimenez, Rowand, or Harris?
  19. He could give up his #12 or he could argue and give up his roster spot
  20. Almonte sounds like a AAAA guy. He had put up huge save numbers for 2 or 3 years in the minors as the "prospects" moved past him. This year he has been horrible. Ring was our #1 pick in 2002 and was considered as a guy who was on the fast track to Chi, and a future closer or primary LH man out of the pen. He had been tearing up the minors.

  22. Wow. I am surprised that we dealt Ring, but happy it wasn't Cotts. Two questions come to mind real quick. Does that mean we are still looking at trading Cotts for Weaver, and who gets sent down to make room for Roberto. Could D'Angelo be the odd man out?
