  1. Danny Wright with a 1-2-3 7th, 8 in a row retired.
  2. wait a minute you mean we got em on, got em over, AND got em in? Did Hell just freeze over?
  3. I am not saying he was a good GM, he was HORRIBLE. But that has nothing to do with being a FIELD MANAGER. It is a completely different job. Has anyone every gone from being a good field manager to a good general manager in baseball, or vice versa?
  4. His obp is probably in the top 6 or so amongst leadoff hitters. I'd love for Miles to improve his walk rate so he could leadoff with Jimenez in the 2 hole. It would be sweet in my mind. Jose is up now, just throw a curveball and he'll miss, unless you hang it. They just showed this stat earlier in the game D'Angelo is 3RD amongst leadoff hitters in OBP.
  5. He has baseball knowledge, not personel knowledge. He knows how to play the game, and what needs to be done, at what stage of a ball game. The leading people part is the part that I wonder about. And being the GM doesn't have much to do with leading people, unless you are Kenny Williams who interferes with the day to day management of a club. All the GM should have contact with is the Manager.
  6. It is hard to drive in runs when you have station to station guys on base in front of you. He is hitting almost .290 with RSIP since 2000.
  7. It is completely different in the dugout and front office. That is like saying Billy Beane is a great GM so he must have been a great player.
  8. That comes from having guys like Konerko and Thomas on base in front of you.
  9. I still wonder how Hawk would do as a manager. You definately wouldn't have a flat team with no fundimentals...
  10. He is leading this team by 3 in RBI's...
  11. Danny gave up 2 solo HRs back to back in the 4th and then a run on a near DP in the 5th. Carlos's Grand Slam is our offense. I did like the fact that we took advantage, we got a HBP, single from Borch, BB from Jimenez, to get the bases loaded.
  12. I don't quite get why Carlos keeps getting stuck in the 5th or 6th slots. Everytime he has hit 2nd or 3rd, he seems to respond BIG TIME.
  13. How long does this organization wait until they make some kind of a big move? Are we going to make sure that 2003 gets too far out of reach first?
  14. We are almost 1/3 of the way through the season. Daubach is EXACTLY right. We are just luck that MN hasn't buried us yet. By all rights we should be 10 games behind.
  15. For anyone who has not made the trip to the Field Museum to see the Baseball As America traveling exhibit. GET OFF YOUR ASS AND GO! It was an incredible mix of the history and social impact of baseball through out the 150 year or so history of America's past time. There was so much memorabilia and history in such a small area it was amazing. It took me 2 hours to make it through the exhibit. For anyone who is out of town I recommend the book by the same title. It is available on Barnes and Noble dot com for $12 now, marked down from $35. I want to try to go back and see it again as a matter of a fact.
  16. If you can call someone with 2 points a winner... It was a tie between Maggs and Borchard. Pickers were HotSoxChick and thebighurtbegood with Borchard and me, IDseer, and Soxheads with Maggs.
  17. LOL. that might be on my list of places I would rather be dead than be in... How come no one said Comiskey Park? That is my fav. Then Key West, South Padre Island, and Niagra Falls.
