  1. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...sox%2Dheadlines The official announcement.
  2. I am hoping Sir Lance A Lot is about ready to go off!
  3. The best farm system is no longer the best for several reasons: 1. Trades 2. Graduation to the Majors 3. Injuries 4. Failed Expectations (or slowed down progress) All of these along with luck (good and bad) affect every club. The Sox haven't had the best luck lately, nor have they had top 5 picks either. Remember, they loaded up on prospects when they had bunches of extra draft picks (99, I believe) because of the loss of guys to free agency (Ventura, etc.). The last few years they have had one pick per round. It is much more difficult to be good with less margin for error because of fewer picks. On the low draft picks part we are the ONLY team who has not had a top ten draft pick in the last 13 years!
  4. That is interesting. On one hand I don't think he is ready, but on the other I am excited to see him up here. Let's hope Willie Harris becomes Wally Pipp!

She is tied for 73rd right now with her one over par. The rules for the tourney dictate that they take the top 70 players plus ties. I guess everyone has beared down and is playing their asses off so that they don't get beat by Sorenstam.
  7. You have taken Frank twice already this week on Monday and today. You need to pick someone else for your Sunday pick
  8. I have a list here starting with the Twins starting line up

She tees off today at 1:43 Chicago time. They are projecting an even par cut meaning she needs to shoot a 69 or better. The top 70 positions make the cut, plus any ties.
  10. I am not going to take away wins from anyone. We were all playing by the same rules, and it was only three games. But from now on forward NO PITCHERS!
  11. He could have been placed on waivers and still not claimed. There is a span of time that a waiver request takes to process. It isn't a RELEASE, it is a WAIVER REQUEST!+
  12. Well after asking the question yes or no on the pitchers in the PTC, I have seen exactly one positive response for pitchers. So there will be no more pitchers in the contest. Thanks for your overwealming feedback.
  13. Yeah you know what, that makes perfect sense. Tonight is the last night for pitchers.
  14. Seat snobs IN all seriousness, I can't believe they got that much response.
  15. New York Yankees center fielder Bernie Williams has torn cartilage in his left knee and will likely need surgery that might keep him out of lineup for four-to-six weeks. "Obviously, it is very disappointing," Williams said. "If there's any positive about this, it's that it's May. There's still the second half of the season to help the club." Williams has been bothered by a sore knee this month and had an MRI on Thursday to determine the cause of the pain. It revealed a sprain and tear of the medial meniscus. Team physician Dr. Stuart Hershon has recommended that Williams undergo arthroscopic surgery. Williams will get a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., before making his final decision. "If there's discomfort and pain, that means something is wrong," he said. "Probably the best way about it is to have the surgery." The Yankees will place Williams on the 15-day disabled list and recall outfielder Juan Rivera from Triple-A Columbus to take his spot. Rivera will likely play left field and Hideki Matsui will shift to center. Rivera hit .265 with one homer and six RBI in 83 at-bats in the majors last season. He also played all four games in the division series against Anaheim, going 3-for-12 with three RBI. Rivera is expected to join the team Friday. "He'll probably see some significant time early," general manager Brian Cashman said. "He came up last year and did a nice job. It's not a concern of what he can do." Williams is a five-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner and has played a key role on the team's four World Series championships and five AL pennants in the past seven years. He got off to a great start this season, batting .384 with six homers and 23 RBI in the first 22 games. But he has hit only one homer and driven in eight runs since then and has gone hitless in his last 21 at-bats. "It was not letting me play the way I wanted to play," he said. "That was most important. I want to make a contribution to winning. I wasn't hitting, I wasn't doing other things. I wasn't doing anyone any good." He is the second key hitter the Yankees have lost to an injury in the past week. Nick Johnson was placed on the 15-day disabled list last Saturday with a stress fracture in his right hand and also is expected to miss four-to-six weeks. All-Star shortstop Derek Jeter missed six weeks earlier this season with a dislocated left shoulder and closer Mariano Rivera missed the first month with a strained right groin. Despite the injuries, the Yankees began the day with a one-game lead over Boston in the AL East. "Obviously, we were able to hold the fort down during Jeter's absence," Cashman said. "Hopefully, we'll be able to do the same without Bernie." Cashman said he didn't anticipate looking outside the organization for help because Williams will be back for the second half of the season.

  17. I'll give you Garland but i dont want to give up on Rauch yet. i say Garland/Lee(or harris lol). then we could put Beltran in CF and Borchard in LF (i would prefer RF but maggs is there). The Royals are asking for prospects at CF, 3B and 2B, we aren't going to get Beltran for any crappy guys. We are talking about a farm system buster kind of guy here.
  18. Who on the Sox is better in CF?
  19. Al Gore invented it, whatelse is there to know?
  20. Damn the Bulls ended up with the 7th pick. I was hoping that they would sneak in and be able to snag Carmelo Anthony.
  21. I work in futures. I have seen plenty of margin calls lately for people who were short yen, euro, etc...
  22. But look at what he did last season Vince. If I recall he really hit the ball last year. Also, despite a very low avg he has a .325 obp which tells you if he hits .260 he'd have a .340-.350 obp from a bottom of the lineup hitter. He's a great bunter and has unbelievable range in center. He has more range then the two of our centerfielders combined. I with you Jas, if he can bunt, hit behind runners, and play a good CF defense, he is a HUGE improvement in CF. But I also would like to know why he is being waived. That doesn't make sense.
