  1. Can we start the fire sale yet?
  2. Did Tony lose it too, or did he misplay it, or did he overestimate how close he was to it?
  3. There are some pretty convincing arguements that Jerry should go and there are some pretty convincing arguements that Kenny should go. And I agree that SOMETHING needs to be done. We have lost at least 2-3 games this year that we should have won. We have come out flat in countless games this year. Over the years we have changed personell, coaches, upper management etc, but the Sox still underachieve. To me it is Jerry's turn to go, but I wouldn't be upset if either Gary Ward or Kenny Williams went instead. To me the only guy who should be realatively safe right now is Don Cooper.
  4. Why was he popping everything up?
  5. I have to disagree with the basic premise of that post Mario. Why should a gay guy have to be quiet in order for the clubhouse to be happy when a straight guy can talk about sex all he wants and it is OK? He should be able to have the same right to talk about his life the same way that everyone else does. It would be different if no one was talking about their private lives in a locker room. But you are right in the respect it should not make a difference. And the fact that it does says a lot about the general mentality of a baseball locker room.

  7. not only that steff but i hear she turns tricks in her nest....right in front of the nestlings.........the shame of it......... Plus they live in the sticks, and eat nothing but worms!
  8. Ooops I just noticed I posted the wrong Jones, I was going to correct the subject line, but I can't. It is TODD JONES not Doug. My apologies!!!!
  9. My question is why did we give this guy a 3 year contract with a degenerative hip condition? Unless the insurance money is easily recoverable?
  10. I had never heard about konerko's injury before I started reading here...
  11. You said exactly what I was thinking when I first heard Harold was helping as a hitting coach. I think the man is so well respected that any self respecting ball player would listen to him. Harold was always a gentleman and just an all-around great player. To bad his knees gave out or I think he would have been a perenial hitting leader ad full-time player. I think Harold has the right temperment for a hitting coach. I know from my experience as a ballplayer I just hated the big mouths that had to yell at you for everything instead of being patient and helping you through the rough spots. There must have been some reason that Gary Ward ASKED KW to bring Baines in. It isn't like Harold was calling looking for a job.
  12. I always like an excuse to try out a new smilie.

  14. Right. He's not a green 20 year old kid. It's time to give him his opportunity like Crede finally got his. Using Crede as an example of your point is a bad idea. He was at the minors much longer than anyone wanted to him to be down there. They waited until he was clearly ready, instead of rushing him. OK maybe two slaps on the wrist for me. Not a perfect analogy. I keep hearing the "not ready" tag on Borchard. Correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't he 24? He has a ton of raw talent. I know he strikes out a lot. We have struggled in CF. I agree with BMR, the up the middle positions are very important. At least I think so. Rowand to me is a 4th OFer. Rios is not the answer. It's wide open for Joe. I hope he gets a shot and I hope he does it. That's all I'm saying. Joe is a little different than your average minor leaguer also, because of his history. Most kids grow up playing baseball year round, or at least as the great majority of their time. Joe was a football player first, up until the day we signed him. He never had dedicated himself to baseball full time until we signed him. So his learning curve is much longer than your typical college hitter. It is a tribute to his work ethic that he has been able to move through the minors at the breakneck pace that he has.

  16. Munoz sounds like he is still getting hit pretty hard. Is he OK? Is he tired from pitching so much last year? Or did everyone finally figure him out?
  17. After seeing how well Cali supports the A's and Angels, why do they need another team?
  18. I wouldn't hesitate in including Mark Buehrle in that poll. I think he would bring the highest rate of return of anybody on this team. Plus I think after seeing the contracts he has turned down, that he isn't going to be in Chicago after he can become a UFA.
  19. Rowand misplayed it into a triple. It was over his head and it bounced off the track then the wall and bounced back over his head towards the IF. He got caught in between of trying to catch it, and trying to play it off of the wall. It should have been only a 2B.

    WMD...

I still think that we will find "something" even if nothing is there. There are way too many CIA spooks running around there for us not to at least plant something. Also it isn't like finding regular arms. They knew these things were banned, so they did everything they could to hide and misrepresent them. So it could be a while before we do find anything. And finally on Saddam, that is an interesting question with all kinds of possibilities. If Saddam lost control of the country on the first night of bombing it explains a lot. It would tell us why the Iraqi resistance was so poor, disorganized, and so quick to quit. The problem with having a dictator is you can only get orders from him, and if he isn't around to give orders, nothing gets done. If Saddam did survive, he probably got a bad review of the war from his yes men, and by the time he realized that it was going so badly it could have been too late, as communications were utterly disrupted by the US attacks.
  21. Could this be fall out from the Dixie Chicks, lmao http://www.msnbc.com/news/906776.asp?0cl=c1
  22. Anyone know how Joe did against Butter last night?
  23. That kind of stuff happens all of the time. Players seem to love to face their former teams, if for no other reason than to try to prove a point. Think of Sandy against the Indians.
  24. Aaron bought himself a couple more days with that RBI single. If after the Seattle and Oakland trip AR is still struggling, then you will see KW pull the trigger.
  25. Why would you boo Chris Singleton? The kid is a class act. He might not have been a great player, but he gave his all and didn't cause any problems.
