  1. Ok Sox fans, Give it up. Loaiza went out and dominated a good team. He had the Twins hitters baffled. I might be goin a lil OVERBOARD with my next comment. But at this point who cares. Estaban Loaiza for cy-young.... :finger
  2. Jiminez is talentless? he's been argubly our best player...And Stewart has done all we could possibly ask from him considering the circumstances. Lee is swingin the bat a hell of a lot better. But the other guys you've mentioned have struggled...
  3. I must say i'm extremly disapointed in how the pen has fared so far. In fact I thought the strength of this team was gonna be with the pen. I mean on paper this looks like the tightest pen in the league. The flame throwing closer in Koch. The domimant yet craty set-up man in Marte. Flash who when healthy is one of the gm's more dominant PITCHERS let alone relievers. A left handed specialist in Wunsh. And 2 above average long relief guys in White and Glover. My thing is that we're not a month into the season yet. Give these guys a lil more time. Sometimes it takes bullpens a while to jell. Getting comfortable in specific roles, stuff like that. I mean we pretty much don't have a choice...If we're gonna take this division we needs those guys to step up. I don't even wanna hear all that bring up guys from the farm system stuff. That's like the 97 white flag all over again....
  4. I don't know about u guys...But i'm 100% on that Estaban Loaiza bandwagon right now. This guys is makin fools look silly. Was this not the same O's team that lit Pedro up for 10 runs a couple weeks ago? I didn't think too much of him after the great st he had...Or the 1st 2 wins against Detroit. But these last 2 have been masterful. If this works out this could be the steal of the 21st century. The way he's goin 15 wins is a definite possibility if not more. Keep doing your thing Estaban....
  5. Oh yeah, When was the last time the Cubs and Sox were both playing this well at the same time? Lucky for us we have the talent to sustain it while they'll go into their annual swoon.
  6. Man u guys just get stranger and stranger. Clee finally gets goin and I still see guys talkin about tradin him. Bottomline is this team doesn't need to make any trades right now. All the pieces r in place. We got the offense, starting pitching, and when right bullpen to compete with anybody. We've also got a very capable bench to go with a lot of depth in the farm system. And last but not least we got Dan Wright on his way back. Would u guys stop cryin for once and let this team show us what it can do. Thank u for your time lol
  7. If they're in 1st place a month from now I might get worried. I just can't see this team with the talent they have sustaining this play too much longer....
  8. The Cubs r actually lookin pretty good so far. To bad they won't get to see this PATHEITC Reds pitching staff all year...
  9. I hyped up Garland all off-season long as the next young pitcher to break out this year. We need a good start from him. Atleast 7 innings of no more than 3 runs.
  10. Right on buddy. The thread of the year award goes to u man.
  11. They warned me all summer not to get too excited about Koch. Even with the 44 saves they said that he's wild and even when he gets a save has to throw a lot of pitches to do it. I've noticed that besides Detroit Koch hasn't had 1 clean inning this year. I'm really startin to wonder can we win a division with this guy closin games. I know it's early so I won't trip too much. What is up with White Sox fans? They're makin us look real bad.. Not only that but we're hosting the all-star game...God I hope nothing happens that night. What do u guys think about what Hawk said. Do the Royals know what Koch is throwing before he throws it? The guys has gotten straight ROCKED 2 times by these guys. Just curious to see what u guys think.
  12. So I guess according to Cubs fans the only thing that stands in between them and the world series is a productive Shawn Estes...
  13. I agree with the previous thead. The White Sox have a score to settle with the Royals. Not only is this a big series for us to cut into the Royals lead. This is big in regards of sending a message to KC. We're gonna have a tough enough time with the Twins. U don't want the Royals to think they have our number. Antyhing less than 2 outta 3 will be a huge dissapoinment...
  14. Lost in all the hysteria of becoming the 1st team to lose to the Tigers was the performance of Flash. He looked real sharp today. In 1 2/3 innings he gave up 1 hit. Just thought I would mention that since most of u guys have been rippin Flash. Keep it up FLASHY
  15. U gotta be kidding. Loaiza is doin well but he's 31 or 32. Wright is 24 and has nothing but upside. In 3 or 4 years Loaiza will be outta the league and Wright will be a consistent 15-20 gm winner.....
  16. I totally agree on not having 3 catchers. I would love to see Willie Harris or Arnaldo Munoz up now. I was just tryin to make a point with Paul. I don't know. He's from Illinois so I gotta defend him I guess.
  17. I really like comin into this room. But sometimes I just don't get u guys. I haven't heard anybody say 1 positive thing about Paul in the month or so I been here. To u guys he's the worst player baseball has ever produced. Now 1st of all the guys has never gotten a chance to play everyday. Hell the guy has never gotten a chance to play every other day. In 1999 he only had 22 at bats so u can't judge anything from that season. With 71 at bats in 2000 he batted .282 with 15 runs scored. In 2001 in a whopping 139 at bats he hit almost .270. And of course he didn't hit for too good of average last year in about 100 at bats. My thing is that I don't see how this guy can be so bad when he's never gotten a chance to play consistently. He runs pretty well for a catcher and is a better player than Mark Johsnon that's for sure. If i'm missing something please let me know......
  18. What game were u watching last year? Not only did Marte struggle. The entire bullpen nearly blew a 5 run lead as we were barely able to hang on 6-5.....
  19. Say what u want about how we don't have a catcher. When healthy Sandy is one of the top 3 or 4 catchers in the al in my opinion. He handles pitching staff's very well, Has a decent arm, And can hit with the best of them when it comes to catchers. If we can get 90-100 gms outta Alomar this year i'll be happy...
  20. I definitely feel u guys on your frustration over Carlos. I for one am very dissapointed over his slide the last couple years. I still to this day don't know exactly what's gone wrong. He hit 300 in 99, 300 in 2000, and was hitting .301 with 15 hr's and 52 rbi's the 1st half of 01 before the bottom dropped out. I'm not sayin Carlos is a horrible player cause he's not. He's just gone backwards in my opinion. Your supposed to get better as u get older not the other way around. And it's not like he's had a major injury or somethin that's held him back. I agree that he definitely looks to be swinging for hr's every at-bat. Especially when there's guys on base. He needs to just relax and concentrate on getting singles and doubles and the hr's will come...But it's still too early to give up on Carlos just yet. He's still young and still could become the player we all think he can. The last thing I wanna see is us trade Carlos and him become a superstar for somebodyelse......
  21. I agree that the Tigers aren't anybody to get excited about....What i'm saying is that these guys been pitchin well for bout 6 weeks now. I know u remember Stewart shuttin down the world champion Angels in one of his spring starts. Will see though....
  22. Think about it guys. These guys have been pitching lights out for the last 5 or 6 weeks now. What if it's for real? What if these 2 maintain this type of pitching all year long? What if Loazia faced with the prospect of being pretty much kicked outta baseball finally figures out how to pitch consistently? What if Josh Stewart really does turn out to be the 2nd coming of Mark Buehrle? I ask this cause what happens when Dan Wright is ready? Do u just bump one of these guys? Do u move a Stewart to the bullpen maybe? I guess it's a good problem to have. Let me know what u guys think.......
  23. Man u guys r a tough crowd. Look, I've known about and somewhat followed Rick White for a few years now. He's been pretty solid throughout his career save his stint with the Rockies where Randy Johsnon would struggle to mantain a sub 4 era. Not only was he a key component for the Cardinals last year as they won their division. He was a key guy outta the pen for the Mets who went to the SERIES in 2000. So the guy has proven he can excel in pressure situations. Did White have a bad spring? Oh indeed he did. In a Ballpark similiar to Coors. And as we all know vets usually use the spring to try out new stuff and all that. So give the guy a chance before u crucify him. I think if we're to win the division like we all hope he's gonna play a role in it. I want all of u guys to remember this thread. And 2 months from now when White is pitchin well I don't wanna hear any, OH WELL I THOUGHT WHITE WAS GOOD ALL ALONG......
  24. The worst part about this is the loud mouth Cub fans that r talking mad crap. And the sad thing about it is I can't say anything back. I'm totally embarassed to be a Sox fan right now....
  25. Were the A's fans right about Billy Koch? Is this a guy we can win a world series with? They've said all along not to be fooled by the 44 saves and that he's not a guy u can go all the way with. I just figured they were bitter for losin a guy that saved 44 gms and getting a guy that saved 10. I'm not trying to dismiss Koch after 1 bad outing but my goodness. That was horrible. He faces 6 guys and can't get ANYONE OUT? The real question is was that 1 bad outing? Or are we in for a lot of these this year?
