  1. I'm a Marlins fan living in West Palm Beach, Fla., with a history and a soft spot for the White Sox. I post on a few other select sites, but mostly on MarlinsBaseball.com (see Sig). It was there that I stumbled upon a link to this site, and just earlier today decided to join to say congratulations and good luck in the WS (Link). You guys have a fine site here, and I hope to come by often to check on things concerning my favorite AL team, or to simply talk baseball. Go Fish! And...
  2. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Looks good. I could always use a national league team to root for. You'd be very welcome. Besides, we could use a few (thousand) more fans.
  3. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) I was at both of those Marlin games at the Cell in 2004. It was a great time. I got a McKeon authograph, as well as a Billy the Marlin autograph. The Marlin fans I met there were, to a man, stand-up guys who I enjoyed being with. The Marlin fans who go to school with me are also, to a man, stand-up guys. Glad to hear that. Amid all the flack the Marlins get over their lukewarm attendance figures (a long story, believe me), I like to think that the phrase "quality over quantity" applies here. The fanbase is still growing, but the fans we have now are generally amicable and fairly knowledgeable.
  4. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) Thanks for the congrats! I still haven't gotten around to getting my Marlins jersey with Bartman on the back.... Not a bad idea... I'd definitely be in the market for one of those.
  5. "Rocky VI" a.k.a. "Rocky Balboa" -- in production now. (LINK)
  6. I remember that Clemens game well -- he pitched that night against the Marlins, and I couldn't believe it. He was as dominant as ever; you could say inspired even. But it takes a certain type of person to pull that off (Brett Favre leaps to mind). To most people, however, this life event will have the opposite effect, as it apparently did with Alex. The thing that caught my attention about this bit, though, was the fact that it was his mom that made the statement and not him. Certainly, anyone's mother would say (or do) anything to defend her child -- even if it's the wrong thing to say or just plain embarassing. While I don't believe in making excuses for your job performance, no matter the circumstances, unless there's some proof that it was Alex's idea -- not Mom's -- to go public with this, I find no grounds to criticize him. That's just my two cents.
  7. Hi! Baseball fan from the Sunshine State here to congratulate all White Sox fans on their Pennant win. This is my first post here, though I've visited the site on occassion. Even though I am a Marlins fan first and foremost (and regular poster on MarlinsBaseball.com -- where I got the link that brought me here), I've much love and respect for the White Sox for different reasons -- one of them being that I've been a huge fan of Frank Thomas since the early 1990's and have rooted for the guy through the years. Even though it's sad that he got hurt and couldn't play, the fact that he was there in body and spirit backing his teammates makes me happy for him nonetheless. I know he wishes he could play, but he's enjoying it regardless, and I'm thrilled for him. And, as you probably know, Marlins fans in general are very fond of Ozzie from his coaching days with us. We miss him dearly, but we're also very happy to see him succeed. I'm also very grateful for the all the support Sox fans have given the Marlins the last two seasons, especially in that "hurricane series" at the Cell in 2004. For those of you who showed up for that series: thanks -- you guys rock. Good luck in the World Series -- and, again, congratulations!
