  1. I think in order to stay relatively competitive they have to trade Hendriks to fill holes elsewhere. They have to hope that Graveman can do the job. Trading Giolito and then replacing him is a lateral move in dollars. Anderson is enough of a bargain that moving him makes no sense.
  2. This. If the $180M number is true, then they have to at least trade Hendriks to give them $30M. They can't really fill holes without that. And, even if they trade Giolito they're going to spend that $10M to replace him anyway. The only reason to do that is if they just want to go with two lefties in the rotation. Not only are they toast with budgetary restrictions, but they'd probably have to trade all of their top prospects just to fill holes, including Schultz and Pallette.
  3. That's actually not bad if the Sox want to shed payroll
  4. I didn't think so, thanks. I was wondering if I was undervaluing Hendriks.
  5. Do you guys think there is anything fair about Hendriks for Lux straight up? I tend to think that Lux has more value but I'm not entirely sure.
  6. Hey, that sounds like a Jerry Reinsdorf run team......oh wait
  7. Williams is only 21 so I wouldn't give up on him yet, but at the same time he's shown very little so far.
  8. I actually looked it up and no other QB besides Brady since 2000 has appeared in more than 3 SB with the same team. That was Ben Roethlisberger. P. Manning has 4 SB appearances, two with each of Indianapolis and Denver. So I guess it isn't as terrible as I thought? If you go back to 1992 (1st year of Salary Cap) you can count Aikman/Dallas on the 3 list and really it's Brady and everyone else. Drew Brees is a no doubt HOFer and he only went to and won one Super Bowl as well.
  9. Pat Mahomes is 27. He has a bunch of great years in front of him.
  10. When you have a window like that, maybe you should hold them to a higher standard. Idk. I think it's ok to have that attitude when your QBs are the Jay Cutlers and Kirk Cousins of the world, but when you have the top of the top for 20+ years? The standard has been set. Even if you want to say 8 SBs with Brady/NE is the outlier, you still have Montana/Young with 5. I'd have to look and see what it's like in the salary cap era. Pat Mahomes has already been to 2 SBs.
  11. Toward the end of Favre's GB career the Packers had some very average to bad years. IIRC the Bears pantsed them in 05-06 and then Favre had the best season in his career up until that point in 07. We all know how that ended.
  12. He did, out of the bullpen. And I think he closed the clincher. They didn't trade for him to be a closer.
  13. I was unaware, thanks. Maybe Chisholm is a better option. I'd only trade AV for someone like that that is a lefty bat. I'm perfectly fine keeping AV because I think his ceiling is Maggs.
  14. Oh I think it's an idiotic move and he should only DH. I'm just saying it's an option for the dumb FO.
  15. He was great until his arm fell off in August. They didn't have him when they needed him the most.
  16. But they've only been 3 times and won twice. With 2 consecutive HOF QBs, that ain't good enough. Niners did 5 in 10 fewer years.
  17. Eventually it's empty. We're only saying that because we're QB starved Bear fans and you know it.
  18. I think he's a good hitter but he's a 1B and if they could get someone with more positional value under team control I wouldn't complain. I wouldn't give him away, but someone like Alek Thomas or Jazz Chisholm I'd probably do without thinking twice.
  19. I think if they could trade AV for Alek Thomas, I'd do it. 1B is a pretty easy spot to fill. They could even entertain Eloy there if he objects to DH so much. I wouldn't because Eloy has no awareness of walls, but they could do that if they so choose.
  20. They have too many holes to work with a $180M budget. If they're not willing to approach the tax(say $215-220M) , they're not serious.
