  1. Give it one more year. Once he's healthy, unleash him and if he breaks, then he's a reliever in 2024.
  2. I thought he had his surgery in March of 2021 so I stand corrected.
  3. He asked me to name him a pitcher. I did. I know Verlander is a physical freak but he was framing it as an impossibility.
  4. Did you forget that Justin Verlander just won the ALCY coming off TJS?
  5. Again, when he returns from TJS, Garrett Crochet will be a nice add to the pen. Especially if he's 2020 Crochet. He basically replaces Hendriks in that role.
  6. I have no problem with them trading Hendriks for prospects and then flipping them for help elsewhere, or keeping those guys and using other prospects that might be further away.
  7. So we're starting this already......before even moves have been made. 2023 is doomed before it even has started #jadedsoxfan
  8. They also bet on Zach's knee and are losing that one too.
  9. He was 34 and had battled injuries. It was always a distinct possibility.
  10. This was the no brainer. They fucked that up.
  11. I didn't even think they could do that. I thought his value was so bad that even after eating half or more it was still a pure salary dump.
  12. Hahn did the best he could do with Kimbrel. I didn't even think Kimbrel was movable without eating over half of the deal.
  13. BTW I expect them to trade Giolito this winter and sign Manaea/Quintana and another SP. If they could get both Manaea and Quintana I think they'd do that. They'd probably cost $10M each.
  14. See, I'd be ok with them going all in if the entire team wasn't hurt and bad last year. If they wanted to trade Montgomery for Chisholm, who has 4 years of control left, fills a need and also bats lefty, I'm ok with that. Those are the type of deals they should be making. No 1-2 year rentals. If they're going to empty the farm, do it for guys with 3-4 years left. Also take a chance on a guy like Kelenic that might need a change of scenery.
  15. What do the Sox need to add to Montgomery to get Chisholm? I'm actually fine with that because Jazz has 4 years of control. If they're going to go all in and empty the farm, go do it. idgaf. Pick a lane.
  16. I'm at the point where I'd rather not make the Samardzija and Shields mistakes again. If that means more 2nd place finishes, so be it. I have zero expectations with this core group anymore. I'm just biding time until all of their contracts have expired. They traded Montas, Bassitt, Semien and Tatis Jr for a failed bid at competition. Any of those players could have been the difference once they decided to trade Sale/Quintana/Eaton.
  17. Unknown but I lean strongly toward no. I do wonder if these guys do know someone in the org and they're feeding them a lot of bullshit. I doubt they'd be able to keep their jobs with the Sox if they were spilling the beans about what is actually going on. I think this might be 100% planted info that the FO wants in the public. These guys do occasionally get something right.
  18. Former Soxtalk poster Orlando. (AKA Orlando Quintana)
  19. We've had this discussion and everyone besides me seems to agree that SF/NI is such a pain in the ass that the prime real estate isn't worth it.
  20. I don't think he ever gets another head gig again. It failed spectacularly both times. Good OC, terrible HC.
  21. Yep. I just hope he can get back there in a Sox uni. If he can pull that off the next two seasons then he's worth his 2025 option. Most of the board is pretty down on Yoan though. He's still crazy talented and even though the ceiling isn't stratospheric like it once was, it's still pretty good.
  22. I think his ceiling now is his 2021 with around 18-22 HR. He will hit somewhere around .240-.270. Walks and OBP will be erratic from season to season. I would hope that in 2023-24 he realizes he's playing for that 2025 option.
