I know.....historically the Sox have had issues with OBP, even before the Williams/Hahn regime started in the early 2000s. Who was the last player the Sox developed themselves that regularly had an OBP above .340? At least for 20+ years. They never develop them themselves. You can't even count Moncada as he spent his formative pro years in the Boston system.

You fail to realize that you can't get away with that shit in Chicago. He runs a team in a large market like a lower end mid-market team. I question how much he actually cares about winning because all of his organizational MOs are antiquated. He holds on to too many traditional baseball thoughts. Also, I continue to believe that this front office does not value OBP. They have way too many free swingers in this lineup. They ran into Frank Thomas. Jerry does a lot of things right, he treats his players and other employees very well. The only thing keeping the Sox from being one of the organization in highest regard in baseball is that Jerry refuses to enter the top of the FA market, whether it's his own players or another team's.

Jerry spends on his team in normal times when he's contending. He doesn't like to put all of his money in one player, but rather spread it out over 3-4 guys. This is 100% a covid excuse. I b****ed about him being cheap when it came to not signing Harper or Machado. If Jerry wasn't going to give the go ahead to Rick to sign either guy, they should have been up front about that with the fans. That's on Kenny and Rick.

That didn't happen in a world where fans aren't allowed at full capacity, if at all. It wouldn't shock me if they did absolutely nothing but make trades for guys on cheap deals.
