  1. It depends what type of guy he is. Some players need to be told that they can't play anymore.
  2. Do you think that Pollock hates it here enough to not exercise his option? Do you think he could get a contract with another team that would make the money close?
  3. Agreed. Luckily we have a weak side platoon guy at the same position in Burger. When you have the players for such a platoon in house, you should use them IMO.
  4. You don't draft Vaughn 3rd overall to not have him be your everyday 1B if you're keeping him around.
  5. It's not about hating Abreu. This team has too many 1B/DH types and Abreu is just the guy whose contract is up. They need to allocate that payroll elsewhere. It will be sad to see him go, but it needs to happen. Abreu will also be 36 next year and it's better to move on too early than too late. If you still believe in Vaughn, it's his time at 1B now.
  6. Burger can play 3B too. (Badly, but he can)
  7. Here we are. I don't see it that way. If the platoon is more efficient, then why not?
  8. What's so terrible? Burger kills LHP and Sheets kills RHP.
  9. I'd give Eloy one more year to see if he can stay healthy. And at DH for pete's sake. I'm a believer in the idea of Sheets/Burger as a 1B platoon.
  10. Against RHP, absolutely. Sheets and Burger can be a great platoon at 1B. Trade Vaughn, let Abreu walk. Sheets and Burger platoon at 1B. Sign Brandon Nimmo, call up Colas. Hope for health and a rebound from Eloy/Yaz/Moncada.
  11. Yeah I guess. With Musgrove staying in SD, there aren't many options. I'd take my chances with Gio.
  12. I said it was an option if they wanted to free money, not a likelihood or anything. Quit putting words in my mouth. Musgrove was the only realistic upgrade and he's off the market.
  13. I actually disagree with the project Birmingham stuff because a lot of those guys haven't proven they've mastered High A yet and it seems like they're hurting the development of their players.
  14. The Padres are everything we want the Sox to be from a team management perspective.
  15. Now that Musgrove is off the market I'd rather take a chance on Gio in his walk year. Other top pitchers are a pipedream. Musgrove was the only realistic upgrade. Also QUIT WASTING PAYROLL ON THE BULLPEN, RICK!
  16. I know, it's just shitty white sox luck. I know people don't want to admit it, but long covid is very real. Nobody is immune, not even pro athletes. Can hit anyone at any time if infected.
  17. Yep, and neither he nor Moncada has been the same since they had covid in-season. Gio had covid in the winter as well IIRC.
  18. I don't disagree, but they've had a lot of guys in the low minors take steps forward this year. But yeah, most of the help is still 2-3 years away.
  19. The sad thing is, think of how excited we'd be if most of the team performed to expectations with the developments in the minors.
  20. Giolito may have been a product of spider tack. Sucks because I like the guy. look at his baseball savant data it's a huge drop off from even last year. I wonder how much losing the sticky stuff is affecting his grip and that could explain the velocity drop too.
  21. Of course it's the Sox that make these type of deals and lose on most of them. All were no-brainers when signed, now at best they look like market value, and at worst an albatross. It's possible that zero of the team options for Moncada, Robert and Jimenez are exercised. Robert and Jimenez still have time. A very White Sox happening.
  22. Not necessarily, but with the younger players I question if they ever could. But that could just be because of Menechino's approach and that some of these guys have never had a different hitting coach. Given the success they had in 2019, I will never understand replacing Steverson.
