  1. I blame Kenny's big mouth for the failure to land Machado. If Kenny doesn't go blabbing to his BFFs Bob and Bruce, I actually think that they get the job done for 8/250-260 with the option years that they were talking about. But KW had to open his yap. Knowing how it all went down, if that report never gets to Levine and Nightengale, the Padres never get involved. The Sox offer is the best on the table and while the saga could have potentially lasted another couple weeks, if the offers never come, Machado comes here.
  2. He hasn't, he's been on the roster for 45 days before September. That is what graduated him.
  3. Um, Herrera throwing crap tonight. Wouldn't be shocked if he puts this game in jeopardy.
  4. I didn't watch the game. Did Ridley play tonight?
  5. Yeah I was thinking about him as well.
  6. Could be someone coming of the 60 day IL.
  7. I thought he did. Never mind then.
  8. There is a story on the athletic from last year, where Giolito talks about how much Farquhar helped him. He's the reason Giolito ditched his sinker for the high 4 seamer.
  9. ^^^^ Honestly I think they hired Farquhar to groom him as Cooper's replacement.
  10. Then why in the hell did they call up Moncada, Lopez and Giolito in August 2017? Then why did they call up Kopech around this time last year? Using that logic, none of those players should have been called up until Memorial Day 2018, as their clocks had already started.
  11. Those three all become free following the 2023 season. It's a huge deal. They have to do, at the very least, enough to give them a chance next year.
  12. No it isn't. Especially if they have any growing pains. The only clock that matters is the one on Moncada and Giolito.
  13. Depending on the price, Nomar Mazara is interesting as a stopgap while they see if Walker, Rutherford, Basabe or Adolfo can fill that spot.
  14. ESPN continued their Patriots circlejerk by predicting the Lions(!!!!!) win the NFCN this year.
  15. Nobody talks about this enough. They're at the point where it makes zero sense to play silly service time games. You play service games with the first wave, then you bring up the second wave ASAP. If they're going to play games with every kid they draft or acquire, then they'll never have enough talent performing at a high level simultaneously to produce more than 85 wins or so. Robert, Madrigal, and Collins should be up here getting regular ABs Monday.
  16. Internally, Zaleski. Externally, someone from the Astros.
  17. I know. I said I'm not actually concerned yet, but there are warning signs. We'll see what he does next year.
  18. I'm not, but I'm honestly concerned if he's not hitting at least .300 with a .900 OPS at every minor league level. It's really hard to justify that pick if he's not making a mockery of the minors. He should look a lot like Luis Robert has this year, without the Triples. If he doesn't have a 2019 Robert-esque season next year I'll be concerned. He has little margin for error with the bat.
  19. That's not good enough for a 1B only bat. He was supposed to be the best college hitter since Kris Bryant. A .900 OPS should be bare minimum at every level.
  20. This would normally be the point where I'd say I'm a bit concerned about Vaughn, but I've done this long enough to know to take draft year stats with a massive grain of salt. He should start 2020 in Winston-Salem. (Maybe I should give Yolbert Sanchez the same benefit of the doubt but A+ is way better than DSL)
  21. 3/4. Cardinals are incorrect. Right division though. The Cardinals were a mediocre to bad team for most of the 90s, and that ended up dragging them down below the Sox. EDIT: You're actually right. I thought it was the Astros but the Cardinals were just mediocre enough to pull ahead of them.
  22. That is what they said when Abreu left but now that a lot of the best talent has come here, you're probably right.
