My opinion is that you always trade relievers having a good season when there is a less than 50/50 chance of making the playoffs. I believe this regardless of team control. Relievers are so volatile from season to season, that you can't count on Bummer ever having a year this good again. My belief is relievers are always short term pieces and never long term pieces. It doesn't matter what I think of him. He should be traded. He's more valuable to a playoff team than to the Sox.

Of course. They better be ready to rock and roll next year. Anything less than 80 wins in 2020 is a failure. 2020 is a quasi-development year where they should be developing players and contending simultaneously. I'm ok if they fall just short of a wild card but I do expect them to be at least .500

It's going to be a pitcher. With Garcia unable to play SS Goins has taken Tilson's spot.

As long as the guys who matter continue to play well, I couldn't care less about their record.

The only chance of the Sox getting anything at the deadline is to package Bummer and Colome. Nobody's giving you anything for Abreu and McCann that makes them worth trading.

The term you're searching for is escape velocity, which is the velocity required to escape the gravitational pull of a planet. Yes, they need to escape the gravitational pull of the bottom of the league. I haven't been worried one bit about Giolito and Moncada until this week, but now I'm wondering if this stretch is a tone setter for the 2nd half. I'm nowhere near ready to say that the entire first half was fool's gold, but I'm not going to dismiss the possibility either. It is too early to say anything about this, but there is a real fear among the fanbase right now that everyone is just going to revert to sucking and we're going to be right back to the same point that we were in March, with zero players that you can definitely pencil into the lineup and rotation the next time they win.

This is just embarrassing.

How long would he be out if that were the injury? That's a 12 month injury isn't it? The rebuild can't afford another blow like that.

I didn't mean to include Moncada in that because the sample size is too small. I thought that would be common sense. Apologies for not being clear enough. I was just making an observation about Moncada's last 4 games. The other things are all in question at the very least at this point, and there is enough of a sample size. I'm autistic and I see the world in binary terms. Sometimes it's hard for me to communicate gray areas. The same thing happened in the Giolito/Ace thread so I'm sorry. I'm having trouble expressing my thoughts properly right now. Forgive me please for not being clear. -

I'm not really complaining about him, but as Fathom said he's pulling off the ball right now. That is what he did last year. He's obviously slumping, let's see if he can pull himself out of it. That being said, he was red hot for a month. -

While I agree in principle, Moncada's ABs haven't looked the same since gm 1 in Oakland. -

They're not though. Moncada looks like ass since the first game after the ASB and Giolito has ok to bad for the last 4 weeks. Anderson and now Jimenez are hurt. All of the positives from the first half are starting to disappear. -

What offense? They were in the bottom third of baseball in runs scored before this cold streak. -

This is the third time he's hurt himself playing LF. It isn't one play. It is a pattern.
