  1. Two things need to happen to tell me that JR is actually serious about winning: 1. Fire Renteria 2. Fire Renteria 3. Start spending to get top talent regardless of whether they're pitcher or position player.
  2. Something's off with Giolito mechanically. I can't tell you what but it seems like his delivery is way too fragile to ever be expected to have any sort of consistency. He's going to dominate for stretches and be absloute crap for stretches. Whomever compared him to Floyd was correct.
  3. Don't you know? We're White Sox fans. We're not allowed to have nice things or shiny toys.
  4. Jesus they can't pick up Junis's slider. I don't know why he's even throwing his fastball.
  5. They didn't, the $290 was a hypothetical offer. They actually offered 8/250. That wasn't even close. I could have seen an argument for 8/280 as being close. 2 years less, but $20M short. That is competitive.
  6. Abslolutely $11 isn't a competitive offer. A competitive offer is something reasonably close to the amount signed for, in guaranteed dollars. I could safely say the Sox made a competitive offer if they offered, say $290 over 8 years. They were $50M short of the final offer. That isn't competitive. Sorry.
  7. But my point is (and always has been) that 300M was the "reserve price" He was never signing a long term deal under that dollar amount. Period. He would have waited until June and signed a deal to go back on the market this offseason before signing what the Sox offered.
  8. Yes. That is what I said and that is what I believe. They went to an auction and didn't meet the reserve price. Read my above post.
  9. We're going to agree to disagree here. Did they offer $300M in guaranteed dollars? No. Therefore, their offer was not competitive. Very black and white. It's like going to an auction and not meeting the reserve price. If nobody else ever offered 300M guaranteed, then nobody was serious about signing Machado other than the Padres. If the Padres didn't step up, he'd be on a 1 year deal right now.
  10. I don't think any contract offer that was under $300M in guaranteed money was competitive. In this case, there was only one team that gave him a serious offer and that was the Padres. There is a certain dollar value for free agents and the Sox didn't meet the reserve.
  11. It was, in fact, a non-competitive offer. I don't want to rehash this, but anyone with a brain knew that Machado wasn't signing any contract with a dollar figure that didn't start with a 3.
  12. They wouldn't pay for Machado, they won't pay for Moncada, Robert or anyone else. The White Sox, under this ownership group, have proven they will not pay top dollar for top talent. They need to maximize 2020-2023, because if this is the real Moncada and Giolito they're not going to be re-signed.
  13. I don't want to win the fiscal responsibility banner, I want a damn world series banner. We have 4 seasons of Moncada and Giolito left. Maximizing that should be the highest priority. If they waste 2020 then they're not serious about winning, and it is more of a well, we hope we win but if we don't that is okay.
  14. I'm already resigned to the idea that Moncada and Robert, at the very least, are going to walk. This is going to be a very limited window so they should maximize it. If they keep worrying about service time at this point there will be no window.
  15. Not having chips that other teams want while the Sox are in their window is a possibility that needs to be taken into account. Think about what you could acquire for Sox minor leaguers outside of Vaughn, Robert and Madrigal. If you answered nothing useful, you'd be correct.
  16. Even though it makes sense, that would be pouring salt into the wounds of the fanbase.
  17. Trade??? It is that time of year. It's odd that neither he or Colome are being used.
  18. What this game shows you is that the Sox are actually competitive when their SP doesn't stink up the joint.
  19. He was throwing 95 so not that good. You know when he's on when he's sitting at 97 and topping at 99
  20. I know. I think the gap between the Sox and the rest of baseball is greater than 1st to 29th in that regard
