Nah, it was his first.

Quit stealing my material dude. I used that in the Hahn sucks thread.

I think that in a non contending season, you always sell relievers. Colome and Bummer can go. Reliever performance is incredibly volatile from season to season. Sell high whenever you can. I'm not sure what to do with Abreu.

If you want to make Bummer a starter, you should just trade him for an actual SP prospect.

7/13 GT - Sox @ OAK - 3:07 PM CST
Jack Parkman replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2019 Season in Review
Oakland happenings *shrugs* The Sox pitching was going to catch up with them sooner or later. -
This is a good question

My question : why is he working so well with Giolito but not Lopez? Or does Lopez just suck?

How long do we give Reed before he gets DFA again? Does he have any options left? Not impressed.

Official NHL COVID season thread
Jack Parkman replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If you consider second pairing guys average, then yes. They have Keith who is at worst an awesome defensive defenseman, they have 4 2nd pairing guys in Gustafsson, Murphy, De Haan and Maatta, and then they have the borderline players of Seabrook, Koekkoek, and Dahlstrom. -

Official NHL COVID season thread
Jack Parkman replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Maatta is slow, but he's still solid. He's also 24 and has had a myriad of health issues. See what he can do after he puts that behind him. Gustafsson is average defensively. Just because he doesn't wow you doesn't mean he's still not average. -

The Hawks don't have a terrible defense anymore. De Haan and Maatta are solid. They actually have one of the deepest defensive groups in the NHL now. Unless you think both Murphy and Gustafsson suck. If you think that, I can't take your hockey analysis seriously. -
I honestly don't understand the point of the pickup. Collins needs PA, and it isn't like he's going to supplant Vaughn or Abreu in the near future. The only way this makes sense is if they already have an agreement with Abreu to come back in the winter if they trade him, or they're trading Abreu and he's not coming back. I'm not sure I like that because you don't want to piss off your new superstar with disloyalty. It might lead to him walking in 4 years.

Sox claim 1b A.J. Reed off waivers AND send him to majors
Jack Parkman replied to smalls2598's topic in Pale Hose Talk
While I understand that, having a backup catcher is important in the AL and he's not going to get enough ABs backing up McCann. -
Sell-get whatever you can Sell for value-sell only if you can get value, otherwise hold.

Did you see Collins' triple slash in the low minors? It is absolutely valid. -

I get the position thing, I just don't know what to do with Collins. He's ok defensively at C. He's blocked by McCann at this point, unless you don't think enough of him to start. I'd rather he stay up and get 2 starts a week and learn how to be an MLB catcher. I agree with those that think he has nothing more to learn in AAA. -

I'd believe it with a single, but not an XBH. -

No, Mercedes has shown more ability with the bat in the Minors than Collins ever has. His career line in the minors is: .302/.365/.847 Collins: .234/.378/.812 I'm a firm believer that OBP is OBP. It doesn't matter whether or not it comes by walks or hits, it just matters that you don't make outs. That being said, I weigh BA, OBP and SLG because you can get more than one base by getting XBH. 2 things: A walk only scores a run when the bases are loaded, otherwise you have to get a hit You can get more than one base with a hit. Out of all of the ways to get on base, a walk or HBP is the least valuable. Even a K on a WP and reaching is more valuable because other baserunners can advance and score on that play. It is a weird point of view, but it is mine. I put more weight on a hit vs a walk or HBP. -
These are my prices that would get me to consider trading players: Colome: a guy in the 100-75 range in the T100 OR a guy with helium that will be on the 2020 T100 Abreu: I'd think about it for a T75 guy but probably would need a T50 to pull the trigger. McCann: I'm listening but it has to be something stupid like the Eaton deal.
-
No it means if you're not getting a T100 guy and a player with legit MLB upside in a package for them you hold. I personally don't think that kind of deal would be offered for anything the Sox have to sell, so that would be a hold.
-
Teams are looking at the same things we are and I'm not sure that they can get more than a Cordell or Medeiros type for any of the pieces they have to sell. That isn't worth it to me. Nobody is giving a Kings ransom for any of these guys. I don't even think McCann would fetch a T100 prospect. Teams will look at his babip and balk.
