  1. I honestly don't know what they should do. I really don't think that McCann, Abreu and Colome are worth enough to other teams that make them worth trading.
  2. I have no issues with 3 outcome players. I'm just very skeptical Collins can pull off being an MLB player.
  3. Whenever I think of Moncada, Robert and Eloy in the middle of the lineup:
  4. I think both Robert and Moncada are capable of 40-40 if Ricky would let them fucking run. Moncada stole 40 bases at every fucking level in the minors but he can't run in the Majors? WTF, Ricky? Robert is actually faster than Moncada, so being the first player to go 50-50 isn't out of the question for him. If Moncada was born in the States he'd be an OLB in the NFL instead. Both guys are athletic freaks. Moncada has insane raw power, but his game power is a notch below Robert and Eloy. Robert and Eloy have the capability to hit 50+ HR, Moncada will probably top out in the 35-45 range in his prime.
  5. Yes, laughter was the correct reaction. This is supposed to be a joke. No, I don't think it is likely Robert reaches Trout levels. But it isn't impossible. Both he and Moncada have unbounded ceilings.
  6. Sox fans: Where's our Mike Trout? Hola. Estoy aqui.
  7. LMFAO. Zito, Hudson and Mulder aren't there to terrorize the Sox anymore.
  8. I'm down for signing Cole or Bumgarner and Pineda this offseason. Pineda has slowly improved during his first season back from TJS.
  9. The Hawks. Boqvist is the hockey defenseman version of Moncada as a prospect. Vlasic has top paring potential due to his size/skating/shot combo Mitchell and Beaudin are at least as good of a prospect as Jokiharju, but are farther away. Both have more upside IMO. You could argue Krys is as good as well. There. 5 guys. Everyone is overrating being NHL ready. I don't mind that they traded Jokiharju, but I thought it would have been more prudent to leave a spot open for him by, say, not trading for Maatta, and establishing his NHL value first. This was poor asset management, and I won't deny that.
  10. Do you consider Kopech and Cease MLB players then?
  11. If there is anything that gives me hope it is that he has looked exponentially better behind the plate than I expected. I was expecting him to be a joke at Catcher. He's around average defensively. When I saw him back there I thought "Wow, this guy isn't a joke as a C" I might have to adjust this and give him some time because when I formed this opinion it was with the expectation that he wasn't going to be anything but a 1B. He has a small chance now that I know he's ok as a C. Still, color me extremely skeptical. However, his swing is looong and sloow, and that is what concerns me the most. He has a chance now that I know he's ok at C, but it is a small one. If he was a 1B only, he'd belong nowhere near an MLB ballpark. I'm willing to temporarily suspend my disbelief.
  12. His BA is bad, I also think his approach lends itself to a significant reduction in OBP. He's too passive.
  13. I don't think so either, and I understand that Collins isn't going to hit .250. I also understand that you can be a productive player without hitting .250, if the power and walks are there. If He could hit .235 with 35 HR, OPS over .825 and stick at catcher, that is fine. Again, I see him hovering around Mendoza at best, and spending a metric shit ton of time in the .180s and .190s, if not worse. I see him struggling to get his OPS over .750, and maybe even .700 Question: What do you think of Adam Dunn's 2012 and 2013? Seriously. Was he an MLB player? Dunn in 2012: .204/.333/.800 with 41 HR Dunn in 2013: .219/.320/.762 with 34 HR The above is, IMO the best case scenario for Collins. He's likely to be worse. Much worse. The bottom line is with his approach I don't see him maintaining the walk rate, he's going to watch too many strike 3s. When he hits it, he'll hit it hard, but how often that happens is questionable. I just think he sucks.
  14. Gallo also has stupid power. Collins has above average power, but not stupid power. Not. The. Same. I severely question Collins ability to make enough contact to do anything at the MLB level.
  15. Do you think Collins is going to hit 40 bombs? I don't. When you're hitting that poorly you pretty much have to be a 40 HR guy with lots of doubles. Every time you make contact it basically has to be a HR or double. I question whether Collins can break Mendoza. Ever. He might be Rob Deer. Might.
  16. I don't even think he ever should have made it out of A+ by this point. They promoted him after hitting .234 in W/S. That is non-prospect performance. I've never thought he was a prospect since he did that. And when he struggled to hit .240 for consecutive seasons, it just confirmed my opinion. He should still be in AA at best, learning how to make fucking contact. He walks a ton and strikes out a ton, and hits HR. IF they're not afraid of the HR because he can't hit MLB stuff, then the walks will go away. His BEST CASE SCENARIO in the bigs is 2012 Adam Dunn with 30 HR instead of 40. A .220 hitter that walks a metric shit ton and hits a metric shit ton of HR. That guy still doesn't belong in an MLB lineup and I don't even think he's that good. Collins talent level is nowhere near Moncada's so don't make that comparison. Zack Collins belongs nowhere near a Major League Ballpark.
  17. His minor league profile says he sucks. The only time he's ever made enough contact to hit over .245 in the minors was this year in Charlotte with the golf balls. If he can't make contact in the low minors, how in the ever loving hell could he be expected to do so in the majors?
  18. I don't dislike him on a personal level, I just think he's an awful baseball player and belongs nowhere near the majors.
  19. Just FYI Parkman is to Collins as Ron is to Abreu. Except Collins actually sucks.
  20. I know there is that 15%. I hope to god that Kopech is one of the 85%, because the idea of this organization without him makes the rebuild iffy. Strasburg threw over 100 and when he came back he topped out at 97-98. I'm kind of expecting the same for Kopech.
  21. Collins looks completely overmatched. In his ABs he has as many hits as Palka while looking substantially worse in the process. He has 1 hit and 5 BB in 27 PA, with 12 K. So far he is striking out in 44% of his PA. Palka had a 34 K% for comparison, in 52 PA. They are both, at best, equally bad with an argument for Collins to be worse. Collins looks worse at the plate than Palka.
