He's going to have 6-8 WAR seasons even if he doesn't run. If they let him run, the sky is the limit. He had 40 SB at every level of the minors but somehow they're neutering that tool in MLB. Why? Yes, he's well above average at everything but not exceptional at anything. But he's 24 and is only scratching the surface of his talent. He's eventually going to be exceptional at something, and I think that he can tap into his power a LOT more while still being a great hitter. What's more valuable hitting .285 with 40+ HR or hitting .310 with 30+ HR? He has the ability to do both. It's a shame Matt Chapman is in the AL because Moncada has quietly become an outstanding 3B. I think part of Moncada's lack of appeal is that he's quiet and makes everything look effortless. He makes tough plays look easy at 3B which is why he isn't getting a ton of recognition for his D.

Moncada has been the best player on the team and he's getting zero national attention. Why?
-
I'd rather Kopech get his money. This is why I'm not sure at times whether it is a better option to be a fan of players or teams. A lot of younger fans of players because they know they're not going to stick with one team the majority of their careers.

Right. The MLBPA can't b**** about it either because he had minimal MLB experience before his injury.
-
If they keep him down through Memorial day they get a year of service time back. He was up 45 days in 2018. I don't know if they could get away with it, but they might try. Honestly if they called him up June 1st I wouldn't mind, but only if they sign two SP this offseason. They then give Lopez one last shot to get his shit together.

I hate living with my folks. It used to be a major embarrassment for me but as I have learned it is pretty common for people who graduated college from 2009-2013. Those who graduated into the teeth of the recession got fucked. I could have been done in December 2010 but I stayed an extra year to buy time for the economy to improve. When it didn't I got out and hoped for the best.

I can't hide it. I tried that to begin with and it was an unmitigated disaster. I'd never interview well enough, no matter how prepared I was, if I didn't disclose it. I'm somewhere from a mediocre to bad interview even at my best. I can't compete with neurotypicals in the job search process. I know damn well that if I got my foot in the door I'd be great eventually. I've been hired by a few places and I always get launched during the 90 day onboarding period. When they let me go, I always ask them to stick it out longer, but they launch me anyway. The huge issue for me is that even in my job as a QA software tester, in a position designed for autistic individuals, it still took me 18 months to get comfortable and confident in my ability to do the job with minimal supervision. I tried a different approach( fewer questions, more individual problem solving) when I left there for a work at home position, and I got fired because I tried to figure things out to the best of my ability(hint: It didn't cut the mustard) while taking minimal time from my supervisors. Unfortunately, because I thought asked too many questions at my previous position, I didn't ask nearly enough at the next job that I had. I don't know where to go from here, to be honest with you all. If you met me in person, I have a loud, monotone, high pitched voice. They call it the "autistic voice" Don't you know how there are people that you can spot in public that you automatically know are gay because of their flamboyance? I'm the same way with regard to autism. I don't flap or rock or anything like that but I do have some other tics, besides my voice. My folks are pretty supportive, though we do have arguments from time to time about stuff. Imagine living with your folks in your 30s. Mostly minor stuff though. It has taken me years to get them to understand what I am going through out there looking for work. My mid to late 20s were not fun at all. I had so many arguments while educating my friends and family about the challenges of job hunting while autistic. One of the things that makes interviews hard for me is that I can't pick up on non-verbal cues about how the interview is going, and what type of answer the interviewer is looking for based on non verbal communication. Non verbal communication may as well not exist to me unless blatantly obvious. I can leave an interview and I have no idea how it went. None whatsoever.

They don't necessarily need Cole, but he would be awfully nice. If MadBum and Timmay can play nice I think MadBum is the ideal option. I've always been a huge Gerrit Cole fan so if they get him I'd be stoked.

I was a huge Trout fan but I didn't post because I was in Canada fishing. No internet in NW Ontario back then.

The Angels are in Texas and they found him in the team hotel this afternoon, according to the local PD.
-
I guess the found him at the team hotel this morning. RIP. WTF is with people in their 20s and early 30s dropping dead btw? There is a larger health issue going on here.

I don't think that Moncada learned anything during his half season in Charlotte in 2017. At that point it was ok to keep him down because the core had not been established yet. At some point, you have to fail and make adjustments at the MLB level. Eloy is still going through it, Moncada went through it. Get Robert and Madrigal through it ASAP. Those guys are too talented to learn anything in the minors, and the only thing keeping them down any longer does is delay the window opening.
-
I think they are being overly conservative right now. Moncada and Robert are Similar players and it took Moncada 1.5 seasons to get his shit together. If you call up Robert now he's ready to rock by 2021. I am concerned that they will waste part of their window by delaying promotions too long. We need as many of these guys performing at as high of a level as possible simultaneously

Someone post a link to that thread

I don't think any of us thought that 18 year old Mike Trout would become the best all around CF since Mickey Mantle.
-
That was practically the entire site at the time that was into prospects. It was a near unanimous vote for Trout IIRC. I don't think there was a regular poster on the FS board that didn't want Trout.
-
Whatever. I meant that should he get injured and flame out he will be fine and probably make tons of money through personal connections. The entire world is a good ole boys club. It's not what you know it's who you blow.
-
I get it and i was trying to clarify that in a pure baseball sense Jake Burger from 2017 no longer exists. That is what I meant.
-
List the 1st round position players that had a career altering injury before their first full season in pro ball on every team. Underperforming is an entirely different scenario.
-
Like I said, I think Mitchell would have been a decent MLB regular had he not suffered a career altering injury before he could even have a full season in pro ball.

Moncada and Kopech alone are going to exceed Sale's best years by 2020. Imagine if Basabe becomes a 2 WAR regular, which isn't out of the question. That is a hell of a trade and exactly what you want when you trade Chris Sale with 3 years on a bargain contract. And honestly, if Giolito keeps this up anything they get out of Lopez and Dunning is gravy. The big issue with what the Sox did with regard to the draft is that they didn't tear it down far enough, quickly enough. If they could have pulled off the Eloy/Cease deal and also traded Abreu before OD 2017 I think they end up with the 1st pick in 2018.
-
I'd take Moncada and Kopech 7 days a week and twice on Sundays. Both had boundless upside when the trade was made. Benintendi and Devers were safer, and if Moncada and Kopech turned into the players they are now in Boston I honestly don't think that it would matter to us. We'd have assumed that Moncada and Kopech were never available. The fact they got Dombrowski to part with them is a coup of epic proportions. I'm still frustrated because the Sox were all over Benintendi in the 2015 draft but they had to win 5 meaningless games in a lost season and that left them with Carson Fulmer instead.

I didnt know that Chapman had the reputation of Brooks Robinson
