  1. This is the huge issue that is keeping me from maintaining employment. I get stuck at certain points during the day. If you don't mind a short conversation a few times a day in order to sort things out, that is ok but my supervisors in past positions were too annoyed with even that. I don't need to be micromanaged, as much as I need to make sure that my supervisor and I are on the same page with what is and isn't a priority, and that is where everything breaks down for me. The only jobs I've ever had that I held for more than a couple weeks are my first bagging groceries and Jewel and working at a company that specialized in hiring autistic people. I ended up leaving that company because of multiple issues I was going through a car every 3 years because I was driving 100 miles round trip 4-5 days a week to work a 5 hour day. Things have changed since then, but that bridge has been burned and I can't go back. I would have stuck it out to see where it went, but I ended up getting involved in a romantic relationship with a co worker and after it went south, it created problems at work. Needless to say, neither me nor my ex are working there anymore. When we made the decision to date, we both thought we had nothing to lose, but in the end we both ended up losing our job. It was a poor decision.
  2. Yes, because they're going to be 29 on OD 2020. it is about the magical age of 35. This offseason should have told you that. Cole, Ozuna and Bumgarner will all get 6 years.
  3. No, but they'll give them a signing bonus to keep the committed money down.
  4. No I understand NPV and stuff like that. There is a cost to hedging your bet at the end, and that is paying more now. My argument is that with athletes, frontloading is an underrated option. You're paying the most during the years you're expecting the most production. You pay them less during the years you expect lesser production. That is smart GMing. Kicking the can down the road is a fools proposition. It is nice in theory, but in practice it comes back to bite you in the ass. It is just like taking out a loan. In the end, you end up paying more than the value of the thing you bought.
  5. I'm not sure that JR will ever hand out a 5 year contract to a pitcher again after getting burned by Danks.
  6. Never underestimate the market dude. Bumgarner could get 6, Cole will probably get 6, Ozuna will get 6 or 7, Wheeler will probably get 4 or 5. You're high if you think 5 max for these guys.
  7. They're going to add, but by extending Giolito and Moncada.
  8. If hey were that concerned, they could have front loaded it and off set it with 2 14M years at the end. That would be chump change by then, offset it in 2019 and 2020. Machado gets his $300M, We get the player. Everyone wins. But no, they had to outsmart themselves.
  9. Anyway, these are still ace numbers: 85.1 IP 2.74 ERA 1.02 WHIP 104 K Gio is still good. If you spread out an extra run here or there and have 3 tonight, you still get the same numbers. I take solace that he made Kris Bryant his b**** 3 times.
  10. They were in the middle of the pack in payroll during those years.
  11. They stayed away from 2005-2009 which were the years they made the most money in JR's ownership time. They won 89+ games 3 times, they did carry a top 5 payroll but they never put the team over the top. One of my biggest gripes is them not spending to put the team over the top from 2001-04. I'm not going to bring it up in a gamethread, but I'll believe the Sox sign any FA of significance when Twitter is blowing up and Rosenthal, Heyman et al, are all saying it's done, and the Sox have signed player X. Too scarred by this past offseason. They proved with their offers they were never actually serious. If the number didn't start with a 3, they weren't serious. I don't want to re-hash the offseason, so I'm going to STFU right now.
  12. Not the average fan. These are people that know their baseball that are Cub fans. Cubs/Sox comes in and these folks completely lose their collective minds. Shove it up your ass, Cub fans.
  13. He believes that when Hahn says those things, he's referring to keeping the homegrown players after their team control is up, and not signing FA. If you go by franchise history, he has a point. The Sox love to keep their own, and they go on the cheap in FA.
  14. Cub fans are already trolling, saying Gio sucks, etc.
  15. I would've been ok if McCann got tossed there. That ump deserves to get his ass chewed out.
  16. Moncada is studly. Learn to Habla Ingles, por favor. You will be beloved.
