  1. Hahn is about to get on the Score, Hawk at 1pm. Who doesn't enjoy Hawk talking shit about the Cubs/Wrigley?
  2. I pretty much expect at least a 7-8 spot against a good team in non-Giolito starts. Of all of the pitchers in the Sox rotation currently, Giolito is the only one with an ERA south of 6.25 Lopez-6.31 Nova-6.28 Banuelos-6.90 Despaigne-8.71 How can you not expect a 7-8 spot at the very least when these guys are pitching?
  3. Holding the Cubs to single digits would be an accomplishment tonight with Nova on the mound. I think a split is fairly likely, unless Giolito has a bad game. Hard to see a way that the Sox win tonight. It's hard to see them beating any good team on nights when Giolito isn't starting. The dregs of the AL, well that is a different story.
  4. Of course they will, some people are never happy. The curmudgeons will still be out in full force until the final out of the Sox next WS win.
  5. I was only considering long term solutions, sorry if I wasn't clear in the OP. Edit: I guess I did say long term in the OP. Will edit thread title accordingly
  6. His ceiling is prime Adam Dunn. Think of some of Dunn's worst seasons and average them. I think if he's a hit, the most likely scenario you're looking at .240/.360/.825 with 30 HR, in an Evan Gattis role as C/1B/DH. Overall most likely, I'd go .220/.340/.780 with 25 HR
  7. Javy Vazquez consistently underperformed his FIP. So did Samardzija. I'm tired of those types of pitchers. I looked up Wheeler on fangraphs, I guess he's been unlucky this year, but I still wouldn't give him more than 3/54. You could possibly talk me into 4/72.
  8. This market is flush with high leverage relievers, he's probably at the bottom of most teams list. Would not trade for what I expect the return to be.
  9. I keep asking: Why all of the love for Wheeler? He throws 100 but he sucks. I'm fine on a buy low but nothing more than that.
  10. I think that he's going to put up Alonso numbers, but I'd rather it be him than Alonso.
  11. I think this is the plan with regard to catching: Collins and McCann in the lineup every day vs RHP With McCann catching Giolito. One at C and one DH. McCann and Castillo vs LHP, with Castillo catching the scrubs and McCann DHing. They're carrying 3 C, and Alonso will be DFA when they need a roster spot.
  12. Even if he does opt out, Strasburg's ceiling is the Sale deal of 5/150. I'd do it, with the first 2-3 years at 35M. The Sox payroll is going to be minuscule next year. They have like $40M committed, including Rodon's arbitration figure and Herrera
  13. Yes, Castillo is hurt and Vieira got sent to Charlotte
  14. I know, it sucks. I'd rather Moncada take the time to get fully healthy and ready to rock and roll when he returns instead of rushing him back and seeing his numbers plummet. It's a damn shame Moncada hurt himself because he was about to go on a tear. Was locked in at the plate. EDIT: Ricky says Yoan should be ok for Tuesday. We'll see.
  15. Cease didn't start today, he started the season well but is struggling with control currently. Do you think a 4.37 ERA in AAA is ready? I don't. I think he's either coming up in mid-August like Kopech or not at all.
  16. Herrera is on the books for next year, but I don't know if he's actually going to be here. Should he continue to pitch well, they could dump him on waivers or just salary dump him.
  17. This is so true. Moncada is going to be out for a while, not that it matters anyway. Another top 10 pick would be nice. I have a feeling the losses are going to start piling up during non-Giolito starts. They don't have an MLB quality pitcher that is healthy in the org right now outside of Giolito. I don't think Cease is ready yet.
  18. He was starting to take them from the left as well before he got injured.
  19. I'm glad Moncada is starting to take his walks again.
  20. It's a shame, because 2 years ago he looked like a big hit. Oh well, shit happens. Leading into spring 2018 he was the pitching prospect I was most excited about.
