  1. Puig is fine as a stopgap until they figure it out
  2. Low fastballs are just asking for HRs right now
  3. Or they fooled the hitters with their movement
  4. There have been plenty of positives recently, especially Moncada and Jimenez.
  5. Alonso has actually been much better vs. Lefties this year than vs. Righties.
  6. I'm not a huge fan of Collins either, but I see no reason to not give him a shot. They wasted a top 10 pick on him, might as well see what you have.
  7. Personally, I was born in the mid-80s and I feel like I have a hell of a lot more in common with my older cousins that were born in the 70s(Gen Xers) than I do with my younger sister that was born in the 90s. The main difference is that I didn't have the same economic opportunities that my older cousins did because I happened to graduate college into the teeth of the great recession, which has had a profound effect on how I view economics. I have talked to a lot of people born in the 80s and we feel that we're kind of misplaced. We're more tweeners when it comes to the generation gap. We're also the group that got screwed the most by the great recession, so that is another story. I remember going through job postings in from 2010-2013 and seeing the words "New college grads need not apply" on almost everything except for jobs you'd get in HS, and on those they'd say HS students need not apply. When the job market finally picked up again, I had to battle the time gap. Forgive some of us for being bitter about it.
  8. I wasn't generalizing, I was poking at those who feel that way in a general sense, without pointing fingers and naming names. The people who I was referring to in my original post know who they are. You're not one of them so I apologize if you took offense.
  9. I don't necessarily believe that, but I do believe that younger people are rebelling somewhat against a toxic work environment and aren't willing to put up with abuses by employers anymore. Some of us have a broader definition of human rights and a lot of older people feel threatened by it. Those people are claim to be all about accountability but when they're held accountable themselves they are up in arms.
  10. There's a huge disconnect between the younger folk and the old timers. The old timers think that if the team doesn't win, you shouldn't get paid. They think players are paid to win, and production is empty if it doesn't lead to winning.
  11. I don't think that expecting your team to win is a reasonable expectation. Windows and winning are rare, if anyone should know that it is Chicago baseball fans who have seen a combined 2 world series in 210+ seasons. You should watch baseball (and sports) because you enjoy the game, not because you expect to win. If all fans did was expect to win, the entire fandom of sports would be transient and follow whomever has the best team in any given season. Do I want my team to win? Sure. Do I expect them to win a championship each and every season? Absolutely not. In baseball, even expecting your team to make the playoffs annually is unreasonable, IMO. It is the most exclusive playoff in sports. The most you can ask for in a reasonable world is a 3 year window and anything more is gravy. There will probably be a run like the Bulls and Blackhawks had once every 3 decades, and that is if you consider all 4 major sports. Look at the Cubs, they're probably only going to get 1 championship out of their run and they've been pretty damn good.
  12. Why would people make more posts when their team is losing rather than winning?
  13. If they wanted to be conservative, they could sign a SP, Grandal, and a stopgap RF, and be done with it.
  14. My fantasy offseason: Sign one of Gerrit Cole Stephen Strasburg(if he opts out, I think he will) Madison Bumgarner(last resort, but they need a lefty. I know he's an asshat but he has that playoff pedigree) Sign: Yasmani Grandal Scooter Gennett A stopgap RF Abreu on a 1 year deal and go win the ALC.
