If Moncada goes on a few more hot streaks he should be fine. -
5/28 White Sox vs Royals game 2

Lost in the shuffle is that now that Giolito has his delivery issues straightened out, the elite velocity has returned. This guy we've watched the last two outings absolutely has ace potential. -

The issue is that he doesn't have enough of a track record that if he has a bad game the naysayers come out of the woods. Same with Moncada. -
More likely is that we get 5 innings in and have a rain-shortened game. Hopefully Gio is bringing it again.
-
Does the next game start in 40 mins or at 7:10?
-
Of course. Sigh.
-
Didn't he hurt it shortly before the draft last year? If so, we're just approaching 12 months now.
-
What would they do then? Suspend or restart?
-
Injuries and underperformance are killing the rebuild though. They really don't have much in the minors outside of Cease, Robert, Madrigal and maybe Bush and Collins. When Cease and Robert graduate they're right back to a bottom 10 if not a bottom 5 farm system. They have a few interesting prospects, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Sox have one or zero T100 prospects in July 2020. I cant think of any interesting prospects outside of Bush and Madrigal once Cease, Robert and Collins graduate. I guess you could consider Rutherford semi-interesting for one more season. EDIT: Pilkington is mildly interesting if he's still topping at 91, and if he's back to 93-95 he's interesting.

So this game has a good chance of being suspended right? They're not going to call a tie game with 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th are they?
-
I'd consider this as well.

Given that Pops Ricketts is a card carrying racist, I don't think that anything the Cubs do on this regard can be taken seriously. Other leagues would kicked them out of the ownership group for some of the shit Pops Ricketts has done. It's his money, so I guess they want to alienate American POC.

I've always had a thing for the Sawx. I only played a couple years of little league and my first team was the Red Sox so I've always liked them since the mid 90s. Rooted for them in the playoffs last year. My dad has been a Dodger fan since the late 60s. That is where my secondary teams come from.
-
Never. If the Sox moved I'd probably be a fan of one of my secondary rooting interests, which happen to be the Sawx and Dodgers. Due to the west coast start times, I'd probably end up choosing the Sawx.

Dallas Keuchel signs one year deal with Braves

I remember being roasted for saying the Sox should sign Adam Jones to play RF. -
I was in favor of the Madrigal pick when it was made. I completely forgot about his wrist injury and Ray Ray is correct that wrist injuries mess with hitters for about 12 months. That needs to be taken into account and completely changes my mind on him.
-
The hit tool is extremely questionable, and it is the most important one. I really wish that the Sox would look for position players with a decent hit tool and then look at other things. Power, Speed and even walks can be neutralized if a hitter struggles to put the bat on the ball. That being said, there are a other things to like about his game, most notably power and patience.
-
Surprisingly enough, I was actually supportive of the Madrigal pick, mostly because I think slap hitters with ++ hit and speed tools and gap power are the new market inefficiency. I still think Madrigal has a chance to be really good if he actually shows that he's a 70 hitter. Right now he's showing 50 to 55 and that isn't going to cut it for a player with his skillset. There is still plenty of time though.
-
There could still be positives this year. If Moncada, Giolito and Anderson keep this up all season, that is a huge development. Last winter we had nobody to pencil in to the lineup and rotation for the foreseeable future from rebuild pieces. This winter we could have 3. Huge step forward. It's the start of a core group of players.
-
I've decided that it does no good to be that negative. I want the Sox to win. If Madrigal is good it helps them win. It does me no good as a fan to be negative about him. Am I a huge fan of him as a prospect? Not anymore. However I want him to be good because it is good for the Sox if he is. That's why I've altered my stance on Madrigal and Collins from "I think they suck" to "I hope they're good, I'm not counting on them but we'll wait and see"
-
I never expected Madrigal to hit double digit homers except in his best seasons. I do expect 40+ 2B, 5+3B and 25+ SB, which shouldn't be too much to ask a player with his skillset.
-
I'm skeptical but hopeful. I'm disappointed in his hit tool so far, which was supposed to be a 65-70. It's looking more like a 55 which is not good for someone with his lack of power. That being said, it could be that he's just had a slow start in his first full pro season, but I really wish he was hitting >.330 in A+. I hope that Gonzalez and Rutherford are only having slow starts as well.
-
Absolutely. His change is inconsistent, I'd suggest he experiment with a splitter and a forkball, as well as returning to the cutter that was working so well for him last year.

Game Thread : Sox (Banuelos) @Twins (Gibson) 05/25/19

I honestly don't know how the Sox are going to find 3 starters mid season. Banuelos, Covey and Nova are brutal. -

Tier B guys aren't enough to win when you're competing with the Yankees, Red Sawx and Astros in their current form. Those teams have as damn close to a complete roster as you can get.
