  1. You know, if a player is in the Sox org they're automatically worse than they would be in any other organization. (I'm only half joking)
  2. Nice job limiting the damage. That would've been a disaster of an inning last year. That being said, it doesn't look like he has good stuff today.
  3. They're just hitting rockets off him. They're sitting on his changeup.
  4. Sanchez looks tough today. Gio has his work cut out for him.
  5. More like mid-high 80s. He lost a bunch of velocity last year, which is why he was available in the 3rd round. Iv'e heard he sits 87-88 and tops at 90. He was 93-95 as a sophomore.
  6. It looked bad live, we don't know if he's going to come back though. Usually these things flare up after rest and end up with TJS. He threw a curveball and immediately called for the trainer. If Glasnow wasn't pitching like an ace, I think he'd already be ticketed for TJS. I don't blame the Rays for trying to see if they can get him back this year with how well he was pitching
  7. +1 The Yankees were in a 40 man crunch and the Sox offered an expiring contract and a bullpen pitcher with an inflated salary. Robertson and Frazier were salary dumps, we all knew the other guys in that deal were trash, and it was, essentially Kahnle for Rutherford. It sucks that Rutherford has stalled in AA, but you make that deal every time in the position the Sox were in, in July 2017.
  8. I hope Vaughn goes to either Baltimore or KC so I don't have to argue this, and he's not an option. I've seen rumors from either KLaw or fangraphs that Baltimore is thinking of taking Vaughn.
  9. Glasnow probably headed for TJS. Go look it up it is all over Twitter.
  10. They didn't have any lefties left in their pen.
  11. ^^^^ He could have easily given up 10 runs.
  12. Where are you guys finding them? I went to fangraphs and couldn't find stats like xwOBA and xwRC+
  13. Besides Lopez/Giolito, Cease could be the only guy that can get out of the 1st without getting bombed, and even Lopez/Giolito have games where they get bombed in the 1st inning. The bullpen is gonna be dead by July.
  14. When you consider all parts of drafting, in my opinion a 1B/DH only player can never be the BPA in the top 5 unless you think he's a a future HOF. He has to hit .300+ with 30+ HR and a .900+ OPS annually to justify that pick.
  15. I get it, but at what point do you quit taking 1B with top 11 picks? If they had high trade value, it would be one thing. They don't, so I don't understand. If MLB 1B have poor trade value, I'd imagine that minor league 1B only prospects have even less.
  16. Just like I don't understand how Hendricks gets hitters out, I also don't understand how Covey gets lit like a cheap xmas tree.
  17. Oy. We're in for a looong evening.
  18. I'd be fine with Vaughn if they didn't have so many 1B/DH types already. 2 out of their last 3 1st rounders are likely to fit that profile. If 1B held a lot of trade value that would be ok, but they don't. If they want to go college bat I'd rather go with Bleday. They picked the BPA. I looked at Abrams and I'm not crazy about him either, nor do I trust them to develop a raw HS bat, but they're stuck between a rock and a hard place if Rutschman and Witt go 1-2. If that happens, Vaughn is the last guy I'd want them to take. Shit, I'd rather them take Lodolo or Manoah than Vaughn. Vaughn might be a great hitter and all, but as with Abreu that can only get you so far. Vaughn is completely off my board, due to previous organizational decisions. (taking Burger and Collins in 2016-17) Both of those guys are going to be 1B if they ever make it to the Majors, so why would you spend 3 top 11 picks, in 3 out of 4 seasons, on a 1B. Do you see how stupid that is? I get BPA but at some point it just gets ridiculous.
