  1. They need to model their methods and FO after the Rays. The Rays also get competitive balance and Comp picks each year, so they end up with 3 1st round picks annually. It is easy to build a great farm system with 2 1st rounders and a Comp A pick every year. Every team that refuses to spend on premium talent should operate in that fashion. That is all it is. I don't believe that any team is poor and I actually believe every team could spend at least $140M on payroll if they wanted and still make money. Sports Franchises were designed to be expensive toys for billionaires not profit generating machines.
  2. If they do, it's going to be a combined No Hitter. Rays are notoriously not letting starters face hitters a 3rd time.
  3. I 100% agree, but you know how this organization is. At least the Bulls FO have the cojones to shitcan the coaching staff every now and then. Nothing is changing until the Sox get new ownership. There will be no winning, and lots of 95-100 loss seasons until then. This is a very dark time for the Sox. Some of these guys are going to be good, but it is all going to be wasted because the FO and Player Development staff is 10-15 years behind the rest of baseball.
  4. If all of the pitchers bust, they aren't winning period. I think we have to come to grips with the fact this might have already failed. Moncada and Eloy can be everything we had hoped and more but this might still be caput already because all of the pitchers suck.
  5. He can't throw it over the plate. They should see if he can throw 3 sliders for strikes. I bet he can't.
  6. Rodon is seriously looking like a bullpen arm at this point. What he has will work in the bullpen, but what he has most definitely will not work as a starter.
  7. EDIT: Or not. Smith brought it back again.
  8. Yeah, this happens to sinkerballers. You have to chalk it up to one of those games. He's getting nickeled and dimed to death.
  9. Both Castillo and McCann are horrible catchers.
  10. To be honest, I think slap hitters are underrated in todays game. Smith and Gordon do a lot for their lineup.
  11. Yeah. I'd imagine he might go down for Santana on Tuesday.
  12. He has the best eye I've seen in a Sox hitter since Thome. If he can keep his aggressiveness without neutering his patience, that would be the best of both worlds. Moncada hit that ball hard, just happened to be right at Santana, who should be playing RF for the Sox by the way. The Brewers just gave him away. Both Keon Broxton and Domingo Santana would be better options than who the Sox have in RF and CF. Making a deal for them would have made all of the sense in the world.
  13. Me. At bats like that make me feel a lot better about him.
  14. If he can keep his eye while still being aggressive early in counts, he's going to be a star. He has to be careful not to adopt the TA approach.
  15. This has been a 20 year problem with this organization. It gets really old, really fast. This was a problem in the Maggs/Frank/Caballo years.
  16. More batterman logo=Awesome. Their ST jersey/hat combo should be their Sunday Alternates.
  17. I said, in that thread, that I wasn't going to gloat until June. Am I still positive about Gio? Yeah. If the dude could ever repeat his delivery he'd be a hell of a pitcher. What was concerning is that he was flying open and falling off the mound again yesterday. People were projecting that I was overly positive about his 1st start when I said I had to see it until June before I declared victory. I have been consistent about him? Absolutely. The only inconsistency exists in your mind.
  18. Shut up. It's stupid to overreact to one fucking start. I'm trying to be rational about it. I'm not afraid to be wrong, I've said that multiple times. Liking a prospect and ignoring reality are two different things. Learn how to tell the difference.
