  1. I'd agree with you that Giolito needs to stick with something. It doesn't change the fact that he can be a really good pitcher when he repeats his delivery during a start. If the Sox end up giving up on him, he's probably going to go have a nice career elsewhere. If he doesn't, he should sue the Nationals for career sabotage. The dude was going to be great until the Nationals broke something that didn't need to be fixed. My thought on Moncada was more watching the game yesterday when he went 0-5. Pitchers can take advantage of his newfound aggressiveness. I'm a bit concerned he's going to end up turning into Tim Anderson.
  2. I most certainly did not. I even said I had to see it until June before gloating. It was other people projecting that aura upon me. Same with Moncada. I'm concerned a bit that once the new scouting report gets out on Moncada he's going to suck again.
  3. He wasn't getting any favors from the umps. He was flying open again, and when he does that, the velo is down. It wasn't down a lot (91-92 instead of 90-91) but it was enough.
  4. My dad is from Bridgeport and is an absolute Cub hater. I had no choice. When we we weren't at Sox games the words to Take Me Out to the Ballgame were., according to my dad: Root for whoever's playing the Cubs Been raised a Sox fan, was born into it you could say. My dad is one of those Sox fans Cub fans complain about. He'd rather the Cubs lose than the Sox win. I don't blame him, because in the 70s and 80s neither team was much to write home about outside of 3 seasons.
  5. Have any of the Birmingham OFers done anything yet? Why didn't Rutherford play yesterday?
  6. Well, 5 runs for Giolito. This one is over. I'm not sure they have an MLB pitcher on the staff right now other than Colome and Herrera.
  7. If this is one of Giolito's bad starts it isn't that horrible. 4 runs isn't terrible. It isn't good either, but it isn't terrible.
  8. I'd like to see his spin rate data this year because I think there is a distinct possibility it is up significantly. His fastball looks much more lively.
  9. If Palka can't hit, he needs to go to Charlotte when Santana gets the call. Simple as that. I much rather would have had Jones or CarGo in RF.
  10. Yup. Either could be the miss but those are the two misses depending on whether or not he's holding on to the ball to compensate. I'd rather he miss low and away than hit the guy because he can correct it the next pitch. Low and away is just a ball. Hitting a batter puts a runner on base immediately.
  11. Yeah, Giolito's issues are 100% physical. It has nothing to do with his thought process on the mound, and everything to do with the repeatability of his delivery.
  12. It is because you hold on to the ball longer to compensate because you know it's happening. That is what I think he's doing.
  13. Flying open is your body being ahead of your arm. You'll either miss down and away or up and in to your arm side if that happens. Those are the two misses and it depends on the delivery.
  14. With his new delivery, the "flying open" miss is now low and away instead of up and in to right handers. He's lost it again. If he can't repeat his delivery, he's toast. It's as simple as that. This coming from one of the people who thinks he could be good if he could just repeat his delivery. If he can't do that, he won't be any good.
  15. Harper is right, he's flying open again. You can tell when he throws a fastball if he's doing it right or not by the velocity. 90-92 he's flying open, if it is mid 90s he's delivering properly. The flying open again is concerning. I was hoping he wouldn't do that this year.
  16. Yup. It really looks like he's turning the corner. I told everyone to be patient. I really like the arm side run Giolito is getting on his fastball this year. Pretty nasty. It's going to be interesting if he can find his spring velocity because if he can, he's going to be really good.
  17. I love me some Q, but......it is still funny to watch the Cubs fail. He entered the game with good stuff but Yelich broke him. I can't help but wonder if he might come back after his contract there is up. If he has another bad season(for him) they might not pick up his option next year.
  18. It is high comedy. They're going to come back to Wrigley down 8 games.??????
  19. Now even Q is melting down against Milwaukee. This is high comedy.
  20. And either Giolito or Lopez proving they can stick in the rotation.
