I hope everyone realizes that if the Sox end up with Witt he's unlikely to ever play in a Sox uni unless he becomes an uber prospect.

Apparently, I'm not allowed to upload the pics, but maybe I can share some other way with you guys. The files are too big

Hello, I'm a pretty big year-round fisherman. I created this thread for people to post your nice catches for the year and discuss equipment. I'll share some of my best from last spring to present for you guys. Also, I have some quality equipment for sale so if you're interested and live in the Chicago Area PM me. I've got too much shit and I'm trying to downsize and upgrade.

Sox Therapy Thread-Enter at your own risk

Completely agreed, and I ask everyone who thinks that being part of a non-racial marginalized group is a choice the following: If choosing to be a part of this group makes your life infinitely harder, why would you choose to do this to yourself? And if you think that it is solely to "play the victim card" you need to look in the fucking mirror. /endrant -

Personal opinions on Sox rebuild pieces.

I've had multiple opinions on Moncada, but.... Ultimately, I think that he's too talented to completely suck. With even marginal improvement, he's going to be a 3.5-4.5 WAR player, and if that's all he is, that is probably still a disappointment for most fans. He may or may not ever become that 6+ WAR stud but I'm still excited about watching him grow as a player, and I'm really interested to see if he can reach superstardom. However good you think Eloy can be, just remember Moncada can be even better than that. -
If there is any team that has worse pitching than the Sox, it is the Angels.
-
Probably not. He's looked pretty good in 2 of his 3 starts. He's missing bats and getting Ks. I'd give him the long relief job over Covey. I'd rather he start over Santana but I doubt that's going to happen. He could potentially have more of a future with the Sox than Santana does, and in a season that doesn't matter, I don't know why the Sox wouldn't start with Banuelos in Chicago and Santana in Charlotte, as Santana signed an MiLB deal. If Banuelos sucks thru April, by all means cut him loose but at least see what you have first. It does them no good to trade for the guy and then waive him right away to give the spot to a veteran retread.

There have been players that could potentially have taken his spot in CF over the last 2 seasons and they always get hurt, most notably Leury and Tilson. That is why Engel won't die and that is why he's like a fucking cockroach. He sucks, and is nearly impossible to get rid of. Better analogy? -

It is somewhat dated, but it could still be modernized. -

God damn, when Moncada makes contact he just pisses on baseballs. When I see him make contact I think he can be a top 5 player in baseball and when he has a hat trick or golden sombrero I think he sucks, then I remember what happens when he makes contact. Moncada is going to frustrate the ever loving shit out of Sox fans. -
Agreed. I find it disgusting and appalling, I think that he probably did it. We have to talk, as a society, about how to handle sex offenders. We can't release sex offenders from jail if they then become unemployable. Either they have to be allowed to participate in society with restrictions, or sex offenses carry an automatic life sentence. You can't release these people from jail and they have no way to sustain themselves.

The Brewers should have never changed from their baseball glove logo. Such a good look. -

I don't disagree with you here but the fact there isn't a better option right now is part of what is so infuriating about Engel. He sucks and there aren't better options. That is why I said he has 9 lives. -

Engel sucks. He shouldn't have even been given as much time as he has been already. -

I'd rather see Leury in CF than Engel. I'm counting the days until Basabe or Robert are ready and we can put Engel out to pasture. Dude has 9 lives. -
I caution you, we said that about Rodon too.

I think that it is likely that the Royals go with Witt or Abrams due to them being farther away from having a critical mass of prospects. I think Vaughn will be there for the Sox. It isn't unlikely, actually, that Witt and Abrams could go 1-2 and Rutschman could fall into the Sox lap, just because of how far away the 2 teams ahead of the Sox are from competing. I didn't think of that until recently.

Personal opinions on Sox rebuild pieces.
Jack Parkman replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Everybody is probably an exaggeration, but the bullpen pitchers with conventional deliveries throw 94+ The funky delivery guys who used to throw 84-85 throw 89-90. Velocity is up across the board, and it makes it harder to hit. It is harder to square up a breaking ball if it is hung or catch up to a fastball when looking for a breaker when guys throw harder. I can't find it, but I think the average relief pitcher throws 95+MPH and the average starter throws 93+MPH now. This is an article from 2016. https://www.mlb.com/news/increase-in-hard-throwers-is-changing-mlb/c-170046614 The average fastball across the board in MLB in 2018 was 93.6 mph. That means on average, the gun will flash 94 on TV. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-trends-to-watch-in-2019/c-304007856 -
Personal opinions on Sox rebuild pieces.
Jack Parkman replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It isn't actually about steroids. It is about how hard pitchers throw on average. Soft tossers who throw 90 as a RHP or 88 as a LHP are rare in today's game. If you're throwing 92 as a RHP you're toast. If you're throwing 89 as a LHP you're toast. Everyone out of the bullpen throws at least 94. Most throw 96+. The increase in average pitch velocity has altered the game from a veteran's sport to a young man's sport. 31-32 year olds jut can't catch up to fastballs like they used to. This is the biggest and most significant change in the game. -
Alex Trebek has been diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. Godspeed Alex. if he passes it would be sad as my dad and I have watched Jeopardy daily for 25 years. The is first time in my life I legit felt sad when a celebrity I had never met in person got news like this.

BTW, I still think there is a significant chance that Moncada does develop into that 6+WAR stud, but I have reduced it from 30-35% to 10-15%. The more I see of him, the less likely I think that he reaches his ceiling.
