I think the others are better. I have to see him in the high minors first. Not sold.

He's also older for his league so we'll have to see. Scouts exist for a reason, and that is to identify talent that will play up in the majors. I take all minor league stats with a massive grain of salt unless the guy is universally lauded by scouts. Again, the only place production over talent matters is in the major leagues. Sometimes, players like Luis Gonzalez end up being good MLB players. But more often than not, they don't. Gonzalez is 23 and hasn't had time in AA yet. Let's let him go play in the upper minors before making any grand declarations. Scouts know what a major league player looks like, and apparently they aren't impressed with Gonzalez. I'll take their word for it. The gap between AAA and MLB is HUGE. Go look at Avi Garcia's stats in AAA in 2013 and what he did in the majors. That is my argument against yours. -

Production in the minors means nothing. You can't start valuing production over upside until you get to the major league level. There are plenty of cases of players who were great at AA and AAA that couldn't hack it in the Majors. Your criticisms aren't wrong though. -

I agree wholeheartedly and I'd also add in more investment into data/analytics. I don't know how much they use, but listening to KW over the years I don't think they actually have a decent analytics dept, and I'm pretty sure it isn't at the level of the A's and Rays, which is where it needs to be if they're going to continue to operate under financial constraints. Maybe the Sox were too stubborn on data for too long and they'll always be behind, which would suck. The Rays have been doing it for a decade and the A's have been doing it since roughly 2000-01 so I'd understand why they're better at it. -
Yes. The only thing McCann does well is throw.
-
Moncada BB. If Moncada is going to make an out, it is usually a K, which shows you how talented he is when he puts bat on ball.
-
More Ks for Moncada. Sigh.

I don't disagree with you, CWS. They have their logic backward. It should be: "If we build it, they will come" but instead it is "If they come, we MIGHT build it" which is unacceptable. The fan blaming has to stop. They need to take a look in the mirror.

JR is a moron. -
I want them to be held accountable too, They should all have been shitcanned long ago, but I accept the fact that I can't change it. I can only control my reaction to their idiocy. I will not buy gear or pay from my pocket to go to a game this year. Someone else wants to bring me along, that is their choice, but I'm just going to watch on tv this year. Being pissed off for 2 weeks accomplished nothing. This FO and Ownership group deserves to be roasted on a spit, and I don't disagree with that. I just fucking love baseball too much. If I want to go to a game, I'll go to St. Louis or Milwaukee this year.
-
I think, realistically, Eloy is going to move to DH and the OF will be Rutherford/Basabe-Robert-Adolfo
-
Everybody who's done being outraged about Machado/Harper and ready to focus on the team at hand, say "I" "I" It wouldn't have been nearly as bad if Kenny would just STFU.
-
Ok I think it's time to move this thread to the Diamond Club.
-
Please air concerns about the team here:

Reminding Everyone that this thread exists. I had a feeling it would be needed. Please use it and let the other threads be about actual baseball discussion. If you want to b**** about Machado, Harper, the FO and Uncle Jerry being Scrooge McDuck, do it here -
I think the Mods deleted it. Maybe I'll start a new one.

I created a venting thread for a reason. Maybe people should use it.

I'll agree with both of you. The Sox have the most players that could be superstars in baseball, but they don't have the most talent. Moncada, Eloy, Robert, Kopech, and Cease all have Superstar/Ace potential. I don't think another team has 5 players you could say that about. I agree here. I'm going to pick a team to follow each year outside of the Sox until JR is no longer the owner unless the Sox get good. Candidates are currently: Oakland, San Diego, Tampa Bay and Boston(because I've always had a soft spot for the Sawx)

I heard the Score guys call Kenny/Hahn "KennyHahn-a" kind of like the restaurant Benihana.

If this is true he should resign and go hang with Preller in SD. -

Jacksonville would never do that. Talent isn't equal. Not even worth discussing. -

I have a hunch the Bears are going to sign TJ Yeldon. He fits the Nagy role of 3 down back much better than Howard.
