They probably would have blown it up in 2010 if not for the 22-5 stretch in late May-June of that year. That run might have been the worst thing that happened to the Sox.

Ok, I've come to the conclusion that I have to work for myself in order to get my shit together. Does anyone have any ideas of work for yourself type positions that aren't sales related? I'm just brainstorming at this point. I have to be my own boss because I clash with my bosses and don't have the self-control to STFU long enough to not get fired.
-
I know. Maybe not that good, but he has to be hitting .320 every year. I can't find a way that he's acceptable without being a HOF level hitter. Because if he's not, he's just bad or below average at that point.
-
Is he really Palka Bad? Never mind then. I just want someone who will help the young pitchers in RF by playing acceptable D and having an arm suited for the position.
-
I just want Harper to sign already so we can all just move on from this disaster of an offseason, and in reality I don't mind them signing Jones or CarGo for RF at this point. Whatever makes the MLB team more watchable. Just get Jay and Alonso of the team ASAP, and don't give Alonso Palka's ABs, unless Palka just sucks.

I'll shut up about being on the anyone but Singer train last year. You won't get me to STFU about how much I hate the Sox draft philosophy. The bottom line is even though I don't like the Sox picking Vaughn on principle, and it makes me want to puke, at the same time I can't blame them because he'll be the clear BPA and the draft really drops off after Rutschman, Witt and Vaughn.(nobody's even close to those 3, I get it) This is a weak draft, IMO. The real question is: What do the Sox do if KC takes Vaughn? I hope KC takes him so I don't have to deal with it. I'm going to rail on the Sox draft philosophy more than anything. I can't really blame them for Burger either, as that was a 10 player draft and they were stuck at 11. If the Sox were picking 4 this year it would suck. I'll keep my Madrigal ripping to myself for a while. If he sucks, I'm not going to rip Madrigal per se, I'm going to rip the Sox scouts for being too fucking conservative. Take a risk every now and then for fuck's sake.

I'm not worried about him busting per se, but he's definitely not worth a top 5 pick either. It depends on what he does. IMO he has to turn into Ichiro at 2B in order to be worth a top 5 pick.
-
I was on him too. I probably wasn't vocal enough about it. I really liked Kelenic and India as well and all would have been better picks than Madrigal.
-
I thought that at the time. I wanted KW fired for not doing it because I thought it would lead to an entire decade of darkness. They had a lot of talent, but at the same time it was all aging and toward the back end of their primes, other than Danks/Floyd. To me, it was an easy call.
-
They should have rebuilt in the 2009-2010 offseason, when players like Dye and Konerko, and Quentin still had value. Danks could have been traded for a haul, and they have Sale in 2010 as a start. Even though they won 88 games in 2010, they should have blown it up anyway. It would have been nice to start then so they wouldn't have ended up wasting Sale and Q.
-
I'm not saying that he's not worth the pick or anything like that, he's just a pick that goes against my philosophy. I wouldn't have picked Madrigal last year either. I disagree with the way the Sox draft in general.
-
This is such a ridiculous argument. I don't have access to Cal baseball, and even if I did I don't believe in the "eye test" unless hitters are using wood bats. All I need is BA/MLB pipeline, BP. And Fangraphs scouting reports to make an informed opinion. Those guys know how to translate from aluminum to wood and I don't. So no matter what I'd see with my own eyes, I'd trust the real scouts who do this for a living over my eye test. When it comes to pitching it is a completely different story.

This makes me depressed. Not that Vaughn is bad or anything, it is the combination of his position, his handedness, and where the Sox are picking. I'd have less of a problem with it if they were picking in the 7-10 range but at 3, it just grosses me out. I'd bet you there will be HS players picked in the teens that will end up being better players than Vaughn. I'd feel a little better about it if he hit L or S, but a 1B that bats R just sucks to me with the 3rd pick.
-
God dammit quit saying "when the Sox draft Vaughn" Those words make me sick. There HAS to be a better option in June.
-
Adley's probably not making it to 3 guys. We should give up the dream now. I'd be shocked. When the option was Madrigal or Singer in 2018, I was thrilled they picked Madrigal because he isn't Singer, but as more time goes on I think they should have taken the risk on Liberatore. Again, it is really hard to hit a HR when you're trying to hit doubles. Also, the more time that goes on, the more I despise the Madrigal pick as much as I would have despised Singer.

2/23 ST Games, split vs. LAD and OAK

That is incorrect. They both struck out once. -

Was it low and away? -
Yup. Like I said, I have zero confidence in their coaching right now. I'm convinced they could have taken an 18 year old Mike Trout and turned him into a non-prospect, and a 21 year old Mike Trout and turned him into the biggest bust in MLB history.
-
But CWS, they ARE that dumb. Has 2015-16 and this offseason taught you nothing? Expect nothing more than utter incompetence and short-sighted moves.
-
Darin Erstad wasn't washed up. He was the player he had always been outside of his one career year. He sucked.
-
Can he play a passable CF? If not, then gtfo.

I tend to agree, and if Moncada has a worse year than last year, I think it is time to fire Hahn. He shouldn't be allowed to recover from that type of miss, and should ultimately be held accountable. Unfortunately, both this FO and the Bulls FO have infinite lives, and we all know what the lowest common denominator is. I believe and have always believed that this rebuild hinges on Moncada becoming a 6+WAR player and Jimenez becoming JD Martinez. If both don't happen, nothing else matters anyway.

I would do anything for Manny (but I won't do that)

How do I make this my signature?
