  1. Whatever. 4.00. not that big of a difference. Still #4. Quintana had a 1.3 fWAR last year. https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=11423&position=P For comparison sake, Lance Lynn had a 2.9 fWAR last year https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=2520&position=P Lance Lynn got paid $10M AAV. Quintana is on a market value contract.
  2. Listen, I'd be really excited if they got either Harper or Machado, but I'm not counting on it. I don't think that it is realistic. I wish everyone was a lot more grounded. I'm done discussing this. Let's agree to disagree. I'll still post when there is news. I have an unpopular opinion and I can take the heat. You guys say that I'm a Negative Nancy, and I think most are unicorns farting rainbows. The truth is somewhere in between. If you guys want to silence my posts, ban me.
  3. Last year he was a 4.25. I had him on my fantasy team. I know. I also had him in 2017, and I know he was decent down the stretch for them. He's not the same guy.
  4. It doesn't. He's been a roughly 4.25 ERA guy for them. That is a#4/5. He's being paid market value for what he is now.
  5. Because they're confident in their ability and they'll get $175M and cash in on another 7-8 year deal down the road. You don't hire Scott Boras if you're afraid to bet on yourself.
  6. The fanbase despises Quintana because they gave up Eloy/Cease for him and he's not the same guy he was here. I'm surrounded by Cub fans and they want to run him out of town. They hate him.
  7. Did you read about what I said? I think the 10 year deal isn't going to happen, they'll get a 5 year deal with an opt out after 3 to guarantee they hit FA one more time.
  8. Lester/Zobrist is a big chunk of it. They could decline the option on Quintana as well. and clear $81M
  9. The issue With regard to Harper is that I think he wants to play for a National Brand. That means only the following: Cubs, Dodgers, Yankees Red Sox. With the latter two out, that leaves two left. I really don't think he's even considering the Sox and Phillies. Their names are out there only to get the Dodgers and Cubs to shit or get off the pot. The Sox and Phillies are being used for leverage and nothing more. If you're the Cubs or Dodgers and you have a chance to get Bryce Harper for only a late 1st round pick and money you make it happen. The guarantee of Harper is worth more than anyone they'd give up to clear salary.
  10. I think their crying poor is a smokescreen. I don't buy it for a second. They're in on him and they're keeping it on the Down Low. They only have to pay the tax for one year and they have $70M coming off the books next year.
  11. Realistically, only the Dodgers and Cubs for Harper. I think Machado to the Yankees is a near certainty. I think they'd be open to a 4-5 year contract because of their youth.
  12. No I won't, if it happens I'd be super surprised and stoked. I wouldn't be posting in this thread if I didn't want it to happen. I just think we're all high thinking it is realistic. The odds of the Sox signing either Machado or Harper is about the same as winning $25K or more on a $10 dollar scratch off. Not powerball low definitely much less than 1% . The best way I'd characterize it is "non-zero" which generally means significantly(in orders of magnitude) less than 1% but not zero.
  13. Nah, he'd just give LeBron many rounds of verbal fellatio.
  14. If the Sox have a chance to get him, they should. If it turns out to be shitty, so be it. Go down swinging. As I've said all along, I don't doubt that the Sox will make a strong offer, I have serious doubts about either BH/MM being even remotely interested in coming here.
  15. Not yet, but wait about 3-5 years... Both teams have been a clown college for the better part of a decade. Remember how we felt in June 2016?
  16. Sounds to me like a lot of excuse making and they know they're out. Let's all talk about more realistic options than Machado and Harper. If neither is interested in the Sox there isn't much they can do anyway.
  17. It wouldnt be stupid.....it is genius actually. They could have all of the money except for 5M over the 1st 10 years with an opt out aftwe years 3, 7 and 10. There is zero risk and everything to gain.
  18. I was confident that was correct info, had no idea the posting system had been changed. Why would you look up something you were pretty sure you already knew?
  19. Please don't mention that bum's name again. Please. I try to purge him from my memories.
