I have high standards. Teams have to pass the eye test. Style points matter. To me, a team has to look the part. The Bears are inconsistent. I don't know how you dominate the Rams and look like absolute horseshit vs. the Dolphins and Giants. If you're going to lose, you have to lose gracefully and with style.

If they're going to gamble on a FA pitcher, Eovaldi is the right guy, as he could just as easily end up severely outperforming his contract as he could be injury prone. If they want to sign a pitcher, this is the guy. Otherwise, forget it. Eovaldi could be a strong #2, a mid-back end starter, or injured a ton. All in all, it would be a decent gamble.

In the NBA where stars mean everything, I'm not sure it isn't a more prudent draft strategy to go with the guy with the higher ceiling over the "safe guy" every time. This is the one league where I'd rather draft guys that have a legitimate chance to both completely suck and be a star. There are no sure things in basketball. Swing for the fences every year, even if you strike out more often than not. The only time where it is ok to draft a "safe" player is after pick 20 and in the 2nd round, and even then I don't believe there is such a thing in basketball.

I hate to break this to ND fans, but ND should be blackballed from the CFP until they join a conference. This year would have been a perfect year to send a message, and they should have done it. ND played nobody good other than Michigan, and I think they played nearly a UCF level schedule this year. If you think that UCF shouldn't be in, then ND shouldn't be in either.
