Um, run scores. Idk if they're going to call him out of the baseline.

Every two years? No. Every 3-4 years like the A's do? Yes. That's just how long most windows last. Also, be willing to pull the plug if it's not working(see:2022 Sox) Ideally the Sox would run their team like Tampa/Oakland or spend like a large market team. All I want them to do is pick a lane and quit half assing everything. Ultimately, it's up to Jerry. I'm not arguing that I said that they should do a constant cycle of contention and rebuilds, because I did say that.

Just because of the nature of going deep into counts, as BB% rises, so does K%. It's just logic. Obviously too many Ks are a bad thing at a certain level.

That's Jerry, not Hahn. Hahn is working with what Jerry gives him. Hahn still sucks at his job and needs to be better at finding those diamonds in the coal mine. Hahn doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt on a lot of shit, but Jerry puts the handcuffs on and Hahn pretty much acknowledged that in his interview last week. I'm not trying to absolve Hahn of any accountability, but let's put the blame for that where it belongs. That being said, Hahn still deserves to be fired.

I'm willing to close windows a bit early to make sure that nobody walks for nothing. This is due to ownership's constraints on FA contracts. They don't get to pretend they're a large market team and go cheap on player contracts. I'm just working with Jerry's contract restrictions.

This is exactly how striking out less is achieved. Going deep into counts increases the risk of striking out.

I don't want a rebuild every two years. That's a gross mischaracterization. It's been obvious since last season that this one was fucked. Because I think that players should not be allowed to walk for nothing that means I want a constant rebuild? I'd rather players get paid, but if ownership puts handcuffs on the FO with regard to FA contracts, it makes windows very short. Most of the pessimism comes from not trusting ownership to hire the right person.

I'm convinced that it would either stay the same or get even worse.

Scary af.

More of what we were discussing last night: Good article/discussion

Until ownership changes, does it really matter? Do you really think Jerry is going to hire a Tampa GM?
-
Even though Vaughn is worse in LF, he won't hurt himself out there. Eloy is a danger to himself and Robert.

Based on what I've seen about baseball in practice (there may or may not be evidence for this) I think there may be a natural strikeout rate for a player/team and that any attempt to lower that rate results in giving away outs, and hurting your offense. -

Steal FO talent from them. The biggest coup in baseball was the Dodgers luring Andrew Friedman away from Tampa. Now he's got the team being run like the Rays in scouting/player development AND has a basically unlimited budget. -

I want someone from an organization that is used to contending on a strict budget. Oakland does a decent job of building up, tearing down, and rebuilding in cycles. They're in a rebuild right now. -

There needs to be a housecleaning. Fire the entire FO and coaching staff. -
Why are the A- to AAA teams off today? So they could play on the 4th?

Also a good choice, but Tampa and Oakland guys have a knowledge of working with a budget. Jerry's budgets aren't as restrictive, but are restrictive enough. -

Whoever the next GM is, I hope they have no connections to the Sox, and preferably a connection to Tampa or Oakland. -

Part of my definition of an ace is a guy that pitches 6 innings on a regular basis and goes 7+ 5 or more starts per season. Sale did it, Quintana did it, Giolito did it for a couple seasons. It's not the only criterion, but a major part of it. Cease is dominant for 5 innings but I think you have to ask for more than that from a true ace. Everyone has their own definition of an ace. In recent years, DeGrom, Kershaw and Verlander are examples. Guys that are true aces usually end up in Cooperstown. -

I know this. I think baseball is going toward the end of starting pitchers. Before too long there will be 2 3 inning pitchers that pitch one time through the order. -

Compare Moncada to Scott Rolen. Apples to apples. Compare players to their peers at their position. IMO WAR unfairly punishes 1B and corner OF. -

Historically, players like Konerko, Carlos Delgado and Bobby Abreu were stars. You have to have a career at least in the Hall of Very Good. Guys that get HOF votes but don't get in.
