AJP doing the Brewers-Rockies game on FS1 and is his usual awesome self. I really wish he wanted to do color for the Sox.

Parkman apologizes to the board for his reactionary streak

Enough with the gif attacks. I realize I've done a ton of damage to my credibility. I'm trying to repair it, ok? Leave me alone. -
His base absolutely loves that about him. We're transforming into an authoritarian fascist society in front of our eyes. What are we going to do to stop it? https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/10/the-cruelty-is-the-point/572104/

All I can say is that American society in all aspects rewards pathological narcissism, and dismisses true kindness, compassion, selflessness and intellect as being personally weak. This is a horrible thing. Rarely, do we show that we love our neighbor, we only cheat our neighbor. Basically, America rewards Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and people like Charlie Bucket get shat upon for all eternity. We've gone too far rewarding individualism. We need a paradigm shift. There needs to be a healthy balance of individualism and collectivism in society, and we don't have that. I agree with the people that say that Trump winning the presidency is a symptom of what personality traits Americans value most. it is really, really scary. Each and every citizen needs to look at themselves in the mirror and re-evaluate their values, and what type of country they'd like to live in. -

QFT. They elected Dubya twice and Trump once. That is all that needs to be said. That said Trump makes Dubya look like a Nobel Laureate in comparison, which is really depressing. I feel like the movie Idiocracy is becoming a documentary. "HE INTERRUPTED ME WHILE I WAS WATCHING "OW! MY BALLS!" -

Agreed. The problem is that the SCOTUS is supposed to be impartial, and to judge the spirit of the constitution as it applies to modern day problems and legal issues. That isn't happening. Now, the SCOTUS has become the epitome of politicians in robes. If this is going to be the case, they should be up for election every 2, 4, or 6 years just like every other politician. However, the bolded has been the case throughout US history. SCOTUS was not intended to be political, but it is, and always has been. There is a massive flaw with the US Constitution about how elected officials are chosen. In reality, the Electoral College was invented to prevent a demagogue from taking office, as well as to protect the rights of the economic elite. In the modern-day US, it only helps the latter. The US Constitution has proven to be far from infallible, and I think it is a good starting point, but we need to amend it and even come up with a new document that reflects modern-day values and society. The whole democratic process has been hijacked by the SCOTUS and Billionaire interest groups, and until we can get enough of the population to buy into that and take over the legislature in order to create a modern constitution based on the original one, there is almost no hope of preventing an oligarch takeover of the United States. There needs to be a new constitution and a new bill of rights that are added onto the old one. There also needs to be written into the new constitution that there should be a constitutional convention to protect the people from new threats to democracy that may or may not arise from advances in technology every 50-100 years. -

The only thing I have to say is that Kavanaugh's vision of American values and mine are polar opposites. I don't want to live in his America. I believe his America looks a lot like Russia does right now. -
I agree. I think eventually there aren't going to be traditional rotations with pitchers going 5-7 innings per game. There will be the opener, the long reliever and the traditional ace. Most starts will have the opener going 3-4 innings, the long reliever getting through the 6th and the 7-8-9 with your traditional high leverage guys. It will be unlikely that a pitcher faces a hitter more than once per game, unless said pitcher is a Scherzer/Sale/Verlander super ace. If that happens, there will be more pitching changes than runs scored in the average game. The Rays have opened Pandora's Box.

Lavine injured again.... anyone know how badly? -
I hate that starters only go 5 innings max in postseason games these days. I get the numbers and stuff, but it just bugs the ever loving shit out of me. I value sabermetrics over baseball traditionalism 99% of the time but I can't stand how all a starter has to do is give up a baserunner in the 4th inning or later and he gets the hook.
-
you're not wrong. He went 4+ IP.

Jason, read the above why I can't stand Maddon.
-
I don't want him anywhere near the South Side. Renteria is horrible, and he'd be a clear upgrade, but I want them to go in a different direction. Being the best manager in baseball is like winning a tallest midget contest. The best ones are the guys who don't make as many boneheaded, idiotic decisions as the next guy. A manager can definitely lose games for you, but they don't win them. Don't get me wrong, I think Maddon is probably top 5 in baseball, but I think he's a smug, pompous asshat, and I don't want him and his attitude near this team. Maddon fits right in with the fanbase and FO on the North Side. Smug, pompous, arrogant, and they all think they're the smartest guy in the room.

Joe the Clown back for another season.....I wonder what Cub fans will think when they win 86 games and miss the playoffs. I will be LMFAO.
-
Reminds me of the 2000-04 Sox. We had a name for that around these parts: Corpseball.
-
The Cub fans complaining about Chili Davis reminds me of this board complaining about Greg Walker. A hitting coach is a sports psychologist, and nothing more. So to start the postgame montage, WSCR playing "No Excuses" by Alice In Chains. That happens to be my favorite song by them, and fitting for the situation.

Why the fuck aren't you guys watching Benetti on ESPN2? I changed as soon as I found out the broadcast existed.

Cheeses H. Cripes.

Don't speak too soon. There is still a bottom half of the 13th.
-
Even though there was a 3 hit rally here, this game proved that singles are worthless. Now one XBH and put it away.
-
Nah bro, in-game strategy FTW. Double switches for life. In all seriousness, there is nothing about baseball I despise more than watching pitchers attempt to hit. What is going to happen if position players pitching decides this game? I don't really care who wins in that case, just for the hilarity, and what Manfred's reaction to it is.
-
Nah, it is like watching insects fuck.
