  1. I think you can get away with it when your team has decent to good bullpen. When your bullpen is full of has-beens and wannabes, you pull the guy.
  2. I know, and it is scary. If they're dumb enough to squander a year of the window trying to make Renteria work they should be shitcanned.
  3. They'd probably have AT LEAST 5 more wins with a better manager this season. Not that it matters all that much, but I really don't like the way the GM and Manager are handling things right now. With regard to Hahn, if you're bringing up Kopech you bring up Eloy too.
  4. I will say this, Giolito needs to work out this winter. He has some issues holding his stuff late in starts. I don't know what exercises pitchers do to build arm strength, but he needs to work on it.
  5. Renteria is as brain dead as one gets. Sorry excuse for a Manager. We all could manage the team better than his ass.
  6. If you actually watched the games Gio has pitched in, when he was struggling he'd get through 5-6 innings and give up 2-3 runs, Renteria would put him out there to give up a run and load the bases and he got 6-7 ER on his record instead of 2-3. It was bullshit. EDIT: Fire Renteria. What a sorry excuse for a manager. Get on the 1st plane out of Chicago, and make sure it is a one way ticket.
  7. I'm 100% with you. That run is on Renteria though so he can fuck off....If I were a player I'd be fucking livid, especially if I was a member of the rotation. You can only get away with that when your bullpen is nails. When your bullpen is full of gascans, you pull the guy with nobody on.
  8. Jesus H. Christ. That walk is going to score. Fuck off Ricky. It's only OK to leave starters in when your bullpen is nails.
  9. Just another box to be checked on the "reasons to fire Renteria" list.
  10. Giolito's clearly gassed. If he gets this hitter out that should be it.
  11. No I just hate Renteria and think he should be shitcanned anyway.
  12. Much rather him be a 2nd half pitcher than a 1st half. Bodes better for playoff series. Rodon is better in the 2nd half too.
  13. IF Renteria does that, they'll blow the game. And he'd deserve to be fired.
  14. This is wonderful to see. You guys all said I was nuts when I said Giolito still had ace stuff in him. Dude just shut down the best offense in baseball. I think this is his coming out party.
  15. Worth the risk. I don't think Eloy isn't going to hit.
  16. You're probably right, and I hope that is the case.
  17. It helps the pitch. If the Sox a) Call up Eloy b) he rakes and they win games then the pitch is much like the one the Cubs gave to Lester. It might work. It is worth the risk, IMO.
  18. Yup. Sucks. Makes me think we're going to see neither Hansen nor Dunning next season. Puts a huge damper on the pitching prospects in the minors, as if that happens it becomes Cease, Medeiros and everyone else.
  19. I think it is better business for the Sox to call him up on Saturday, and try to win some fucking games in September for a better pitch to Machado/Harper. Fuck the 7th year. If they can get either player by calling him up now, the enhancement of the window far exceeds the extra year. JMO.
  20. I have a feeling that they're going to make an example out of this one. I'd imagine it to go down like this. Bryant loses his grievance, then a few weeks later Eloy wins his, and so on and the Cubs continue to get preferential treatment that is undeserved because they bring in more money.
  21. Great. If Eloy files and wins this grievance, they should retroactively knock off a year of FA for anyone who did this in the last 4 seasons. It would be completely unfair to the Sox if the Cubs could get away with this and they can't.
  22. Because of the quality of the offense he's facing, If they got 5-6 IP 3-4ER and 5 K out of him today I'd call that a win. Anything better is gravy.
