Kopech the latest MLB player with questionable Twitter history
Jack Parkman replied to LittleHurt05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Climate change awareness and taking action upon it is part of human rights. The resulting issues from it are going to affect them in the future, so we better act accordingly. I'm almost to the point that we need to make what is known as "sensitivity training" a required class all four years of HS nationwide. Make the schoolday 1.5 hours longer for all I care. Whatever it takes to change cultural attitudes about marginalized groups. This way, we'll know who truly is a garbage human being. -

Human rights are important, no matter who it is. It shouldn't be reality. People have a duty to society to stand up for human rights injustices. I'm sorry. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. In my eyes if you do nothing to stand up for injustices, you're just as culpable in the process. I get that everyone doesn't have the time and money to do EVERYTHING that needs to be done, but if everyone picks one cause they're willing to fight for, that is better than doing nothing. To me, that does more to contribute to society than having a job does. -

Not by medical professionals, but by everyday people. It gave them an excuse to treat disabled individuals poorly and inhumanely. That is what I was talking about. -

The F word, N word and R word are being phased out of society because of their original intent. They were used to dehumanize the segment of society they were referring to, and that is why people find them offensive. If you understand the history and context of these words, you understand why they are incredibly offensive. If you want to know, I find things like Inspiration Porn more patronizing than being called the R word, because it perpetuates a cultural attitude that adaptation to others is a one way street for disabled people, and that if a disabled person can't pull off the success story that this person pulled off, they must be lazy or unmotivated. They make movies about those things for a reason, because they are incredibly rare and for once I wish they would make a documentary about what it is like for 90% of disabled folks. More people are outraged at the movie Blackfish than they are with how the disabled are treated worldwide. I have zero respect for organizations like PETA because we need to solve human rights abuses before we give an ounce of energy to animal rights. -

Technically, they're all unacceptable. Those terms are only used as insults now, so they've taken a different meaning. -

As you all know, I'm autistic. I'm not that offended by the word "Retarded" I think that the disability community should take back that word. I use it, when I deem appropriate. I went to a HS that was over 95% white and I will tell you that kind of stuff was common language every day. If we all condemned everyone for stupid shit they did at the age of 18-22, the entire world would be unemployed and in jail. Nobody here hasn't done something regrettable at least once in their life. As long as he's not doing anymore, I couldn't care less. I will say, that when people call me "retarded" I have learned to tell when people are using it as an insult. -
I will say this again, it isn't a coincidence that the Angels, White Sox and Mets are among the worst run teams in baseball. Gee, I wonder what they all have in common? When you have to fight for every casual fan you get when you're by far the less popular team in town, you make dumb decisions you wouldn't otherwise make.

**2018-2019 NCAA Football Thread**
Jack Parkman replied to Brian's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
As a Florida Gators football fan, I can tell you that Urban Meyer is a grade A scumbag and deserves to be nowhere near a University Campus. He only cares about two things: Winning football games and himself. I thoroughly enjoy watching his team lose. That is all. I feel like the UF national titles in 2006 and 2008 are tainted with his scum and and you can't convince me otherwise. Quitting on Florida was only the first thing he did to reveal what a scumbag he truly is. /endrant -
Eloy Jimenez: I'm Ready (Players' Tribune)
Jack Parkman replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No, I understand math well enough to know that sometimes things like that cause a statistical anomaly. Nobody in their right mind would think that Schwarber is better defensively than Trout. If one had that thought, they shouldn't be allowed to watch baseball anymore. -

Jack Parkman replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If you look at it though, it is solely because of his arm. He's negative everywhere else, and once teams stop running on him that will change. -
Well, Castellanos is better than anything the Sox are trotting out there today.
-
I think the G in "Juego G" stands for "Gopherball" LOL. Shields has just served up 3 in a row.
-
Yeah, shut him down. Zero reason to play Avi or Abreu the rest of the season, no matter how pitiful the lineups may be. Who Knows? They might tank enough to pass KC for 2nd pick if they do that. Call up some fringe OFs and see what you have.

Jack Parkman replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It isn't that Eloy is absolutely awful out there, it is more that the Sox have better defensive options internally and are absolutely loaded in the OF. He's not good, but he's not a Kyle Schwarber level butcher out there either. -

I think something can be worked around the draft or international status. If a player is drafted out of HS or signed internationally and makes his MLB Debut before age 21, the club holds that player's rights until the completion of their age 26 season(meaning that the player was 26 on opening day) Otherwise, it is 6 seasons after MLB debut, with the lone exception of 9/1 callups. 9/1 callups count toward Arbitration, but don't count in terms of team control. In this type of setup, there is zero reason for a player ready not to break camp with the team, and at the very least a player ready for the bigs will probably be called up on 9/1. In return, EVERY player who sticks gets Arbitration after 2 seasons of MLB service time. -
This too. I think getting hits is the most important thing for Moncada currently. He needs to put the bat on the ball and the rest will take care of itself through his talent.
-
I wasn't intending to count games where he went 0-1 ot 0-2 with 3BB. My question was more how many games has he been on base either not at all or once? Because it seems like that accounts for the great majority of his games for a while.
-
what about 0 hits and a walk or two?
-
1. How many multi hit games has Moncada had since 7/1? 2. How many games has he gone 0fer in that same span?
-
I understand the entertainment factor completely, but isn't it more entertaining to put your team in the best position to win? It is absolutely crazy to me. The most efficient way of playing baseball is boring to some people. I find the NBA boring because there are approximately 3-4 teams per season that realistically have a chance to win a title. I find the NFL kind of boring for the same reason. From 2001-Present, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or Ben Roethlisberger have represented the AFC in the Super Bowl 16/17 seasons. (The only exception was the 2012 Ravens. If not for a blown coverage late in a game it would have been a perfect 17/17 in that regard) A great QB in the NFL means almost as much as having a James/Durant in the NBA. Honestly, sports have become boring in general lately. You have the same teams winning over and over again. Even in the NHL, from 2009-2017 the Penguins, Blackhawks and Kings won 8/9 championships. Sports aren't about your local teams anymore, they're about watching great players and teams be great. People have to learn to separate their favorite team winning from their enjoyment of a sport, mostly because if you don't have one of those special players you aren't winning jack and shit. I think that fans should start to root for the name on the back of a jersey instead of on the front, because that is where sports is going. If you don't like it, don't watch. Otherwise you might be waiting a lifetime to see glory for your favorite team, and never see it.
