  1. David Samson's quote about Jerry's team building philosophy has never been more accurate than in 2022. I am grateful to Samson for telling the fans how it is.
  2. It's too soon to write off Robert and Vaughn improving, but both need to show more game power and take a step forward or they will remain merely very good.
  3. This is literally the worst way for the rebuild to fail. I'd rather the players never be good at all and not build false hope than have 3 good seasons and then fade away.
  4. Get Bamba, worry about everything else later.
  5. The biggest choice with Abreu is actually what they do with him a month from now.
  6. Of course. The Sox are stuck with him at least for the next 2.5 seasons. We should all hope he gets his shit together. The point that we've been trying to make, Balta is that the Sox not only don't have much to trade as a buyer, but they don't have much as a seller either. Listen, I love Abreu as a player. But it's time to hand over the reigns to Vaughn. The Sox have way too many DH types and clearing Abreu leaves 1B for Vaughn and DH for Eloy. Those guys should be penciled in there for next season. I think the best thing the Sox can do at this point is trim the fat and hope for the best. Just let these players play out their deals. Maybe we get an "everything goes right" season and they win a championship, because that's what it would take at this point.
  7. Ok let me clarify. Could Moncada figure it out in-season? Yes, there are signs. Am I counting on it? No.
  8. I don't understand why other posters don't understand this.
  9. I think that Hendriks is untradeable because of his contract+injury and if you've been paying attention to baseball savant, Giolito has been giving up hard contact all year but his k rate and batted ball luck was saving him early. June is regression to how he was actually pitching. Don't get me wrong, I think Giolito, Moncada and Grandal are good players having bad years. I just don't think they can fix their problems until the offseason. Giolito's mechanics are fucked, he said so himself and that's a hard thing to fix in season.
  10. Nobody wants any of those guys other than Abreu and Graveman. Players having bad seasons have minimal value. Go look at Grandal, Moncada and Giolito's baseball savant page. There is nothing that suggests they're about to turn it around in-season.
  11. That's a fair criticism but he made up for it with the best OBP season of his career. Moncada was an on base machine last year.
  12. 2020 is a weird thing and both players were good for the last two 162 game seasons before this one. However, if you were paying attention to baseball savant Giolito has been bad all year and batted ball luck (especially with HR) was saving him until June.
  13. There's way too much forgetting that Yoan and Lucas were actually good for multiple seasons at one point. Sox fans seem to pretend neither guy was ever good. I've given them my fair share of shit, but it's mostly because I thought they had it in them to be even better than they were.
  14. When I watch the games, it seems that hitters can recognize them fairly easily. However you're right, they're plus pitches so I guess I'm the idiot.
  15. Even though Moncada has 2 ks he put together a couple good ABs. Those pitches he struck out on are insanely tough to lay off. Process is there, the results will come.
  16. He got injured, man. He was gaining strength until then. IIRC he injured his plant leg and it seems he's not able to drive off of it anymore. If he can't drive off of it after the ASB then it's a problem.
