  1. I know, but they have to make sure they have enough money to sign all three of them, and Walker/Pilkington won't sign until they know how much money is left. They're trying to get their slice of the pie.
  2. Both Pilkington and Walker have to wait on Madrigal. Neither of them will sign until a deal is complete with Madrigal, and with OSU going far in the CWS it seems like it will be some time before those three get signed.
  3. I like my baseball the way it is, and it would frustrate me as a fan if teams did things that statistically made it less likely for my favorite team to win a game just because some people are bored. The goal is winning the WS and changing rules that make it less likely for a team to take advantage of the data they have accumulated is unfair to fans and teams. There really is no way to deal with this, without affecting teams putting themselves in the best position to win. That is against the spirit of competition. You'd harp on a player for not hustling, etc. So why don't you harp on MLB for enacting rules that prevent the game from being played in the most efficient manner. Let's face it guys, walks, Ks and HRs win baseball games, and stealing, bunting and hit-and-runs actually decrease a team's run expectancy. Knowing this, why would anyone want to give their team a lesser chance of winning the game they paid money to see just because it is *slightly* more entertaining in the process. I go to games to see the following: 1. My team win, if they're expected to do so 2) Players that are great at baseball being great at baseball and 3) Progression of young pieces into players that are great at baseball, if my team is rebuilding. I don't always care about Wins and Losses. To me, it is more exciting to watch a 2-1 game where both pitchers strike out 10 plus batters, than it is to watch a 12-10 slugfest. In a 2-1 game there is so much riding on every pitch and that alone is exciting to me. The tension and pressure is there on each and every pitch. In a similar vein, I'd rather watch a 17-14 football game than a 41-38 game because the lower scoring game the level of execution and precision is higher, and any mistake could cost the game. That is more exciting to me. In lower scoring games, every pitch and play needs to be executed precisely, and that, to me is a better vision of the "essence of the game" type thing. I'd probably absolutely love soccer if I knew more about that sport but I much prefer hockey so I do that. Again, to me, higher scoring games mean that the game was sloppy and teams aren't executing properly and that takes away a lot of my enjoyment of any sport. I like golf too, my favorite major is the US Open and I like that because the level of play needed to win is so high because the courses are so tough. Every mistake is magnified, and that is just the way I like my sports.
  4. This post is awesome. The Cub unis do look like clown pajamas though.
  5. LMFAO. Love seeing the idiots in clown pajamas on the north side fail miserably.
  6. Again, Not disagreeing about talking mid-late August, but this is the first time we've seen the stuff there from Gio and the command there from Rodon in a game so I don't think there is any reason to not be hopeful going forward based on their starts this weekend. Hopefully they take off from here.
  7. He's not fine, but news that his UCL is structurally intact would be great news. Missing 4-6 weeks is much better than 18 months.
  8. Hopefully a year from now we can all point to this series as the big turnaround for Moncada/Giolito/Rodon.
  9. HOLY SHIT MONCADA!!! WHERE HAS THIS BEEN FOR THE LAST MONTH?????? YEAH!!!
  10. I get that it is only one start, read what I wrote toward the end of the previous page. the arrow is pointing way up because we know the stuff is still there for both pitchers. That is the takeaway. Now it is a matter of maintaining their progress the rest of the season.
  11. Not because of one start per se, but because Gio's stuff is slowly returning. You could see the buildup over the last month or so. The guy we saw Friday flashed TOR potential. We have never seen him have that kind of stuff since he's been here. Both Giolito and Rodon have been either fixing problems with their delivery or returning from injury and TBH, the thing about Giolito is that we now know that the stuff was always there and it was all a physical problem with mechanics. No injuries, no mysterious loss of stuff. Also, did you see my qualifier in the initial post? I said if they continue pitching like this for the majority of the rest of the season Hahn can sleep a little easier with regard to them.
  12. Couple that with Giolito's start on Friday evening and suddenly the arrow is pointing waaay up for those two guys.
  13. I don't think I've ever seen Rodon have a start where he throws this many strikes. I also can't remember a start where he walked 0 batters. This is ultra encouraging. Best command I've seen of him in his MLB career. If we get the Rodon and Giolito we've seen over this series, for the rest of the season, I think we've found our TOR guys.
  14. I don't know how the Sox are going to score even 600 runs this year their offense is putrid, and that includes Abreu. This guy pitching is a schmuck of the nth degree and he doesn't have to throw 50 pitches to get through 4 innings. Sox pitching throws 40 pitches in 2 innings usually.
  15. you gotta have confidence to pull the ball and he has none because the umps are fucking with his head.
  16. No I think he's flustered by how incredibly huge his strike zone is. He's confused about what is a ball and strike, and it is messing with his head. Umps need to call the zone like they do for others with him. He gets hosed up, down, inside and outside and it varies game to game. I really think the umps have it in for him for some reason. No other explanation.
  17. Hard to blame Moncada for swinging at everything at this point. He has a ridiculously huge zone for these umps. I can't figure it out.
  18. God dammit umps, why do you continue to ring up Moncada on Balls?????? This is beyond infuriating now.
  19. I'm interested to see what the remainder of this board thinks, but to me, Trump's ( and his family's) behavior speaks volumes about whether or not there was coordination with Russia on the 2016 campaign. All of his behavior points to someone who is guilty as sin, and is using every bit of the power that his office holds to keep himself out of jail as long as possible. He knows he's been found out, but he thinks somehow he can weasel his way out of it. The arrogance and hubris know no bounds. If this was really a partisan witch hunt, he would have an idgaf attitude, let them investigate, I'll testify because I have nothing to hide. The urgency to sweep the whole thing under the rug, end the investigation ASAP, along with other things point to someone who is super guilty, has a TON to hide, and everything to lose if even 10% of his skeletons are found in the closet.
  20. Meh,I'd be more concerned if he was swinging at bullshit like Anderson than looking at pitchers pitches that are borderline like that one. It just seems like Umps give the benefit of the doubt to the pitcher more often than not with Moncada. Idk, did he bang some umps daughter or something? I don't know why there seems to be a concerted effort by all of the boys in blue to fuck over Moncada.
  21. I thought when I looked up Moncada's BABIP it would be well less than .300 because it seems he tatoos the ball very often but it goes right at people. Was shocked to find BABIP was .329 on the season. Still doesn't explain the weird called strike stuff. He's getting hosed way too often by Umps and it is gettng beyond annoying at this point.
